The Boondocks Is Pretty Sympathetic To Chris Brown! If you read reviews you'd see critics stating The Boondocks roast Chris Brown, but if you've actually watched the episode you'd see the writers are pretty sympathetic to Chris Brown. I think it's telling that Aaron McGruder has nothing to do with the show now. If he had been at the helm I think it would've been a lot harsher. The funny thing is it seems pretty accurate. Chris may be as dumb as rocks but he ain't so out of touch that he isn't aware of whats going on. I go from being exasperated to intrigued by the whole Chris Brown phenomenon. Case in point: Chris Brown sits in jail on a parole violation as we speak, so what does that have to say about his career? A fresh top ten hit with "Loyal". >

Is the new series worth watching? I was quite excited for it's return, but I kinda lost track of it and now the news that Aaron McGruder isn't part of it doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I feel the show has lost it's direction. It desn't have a political edge anymore, the mst recent epsiode telling Grandad's "Civil Rights" story is a perfect example. Huey stopped being the main character a long time ago.

White people are a lot more condemning of Chris Brown than black people. I don't think Aaron would have been any harder on him. As a black man who has been demonized by the media himself, McGruder understands how that happens. Even though the Boondocks suck without him, I don't think he would have been any harder on him. Black people have for the most part, forgiven Chris Brown and moved on like white people have forgiven that cokehead Robert Downy Jr. and crackhead wifebeater Charlie "winnig" Sheen even though it is well known that he beat the shit out of Denise Richards and his other ex-wife as well as a couple of other girlfriends. People move on. Chis is in jail on a parole violation. What is the violation? No one ever wants to talk about that. Why? Because its a technicality. There was no sensationalism behind it. If there was any way the press could exploit it, they wouold have. Anyway, let's move on...

The escort episode was pretty funny. But I agree about Huey. This show should've always stuck with Huey as the main focus. It's kind of like if Daria had been moved to the sidelines during that series run. Or The Simpsons without Homer. Sure he's a doofus, but he has middle aged insights.

I agree, and its humor is less biting satire and more cheap, low-brow stuff that plays off of stereotypes without giving any context. It's like Family Guy or the Cleveland Show. It just isn't as good as it used to be. "I took another bubble bath, with my pants on. All the fighting stopped. Next time I’ll do it sooner.”

It does just feel way off this season. The Breaking Bad satire was somewhat funny. But the jokes seem so forced now and Huey feels off. The racial humor isn't biting or witty... now it's just as bunny said low brow. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Oh, and the good times episode was horrible. It just... didn't click and was rather annoying. Maybe the worst episode of the series so far. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Report: Chris Brown Collaborating With James DeBarge in Jail
A source says the singers are being held in adjacent cells and are passing the time harmonizing. Chris Brown may have been feeling lke a "caged animal" in prison, but he's not letting the experience break his spirit entirely. Reportedly, he's still crooning behind bars, passing the time writing songs with fellow R&B singer and inmate James DeBarge. According to TMZ, Breezy and James are being held in adjacent cells in a special section of the Los Angeles County jail reserved for high profile prisoners. Although they can't see each other, the two spend their days collaborating vocally and have successfully penned at least three songs together. What's more, the Grammy winner and the DeBarge brother have inspired more inmates on their cell block to join in on the harmonies. Now that's music therapy. Breezy was given 131 days after admitting that he violated probation the night of an alleged assault on a person attempting to photobomb a fan photo in Washington, D.C. James, who was part of the all siblings singing group DeBarge ("Rhythm of the Night," "All This Love," "Love Me in a Special Way") was arrested in April on drug possession charges. He had been locked up before, on drug and weapons charges, and apparently spent time then in a cell near another famed inmate, Conrad Murray (which upset James because he considered Michael Jackson a brother; he was briefly married to Janet Jackson in the '80s). No word yet on whether or not the songs will be recorded once the two are released.

Could Chris learn something from one of the premiere R&B songwriters of the 80's?

I was surprised for a second then reality set in. Debarge has this strong addictive gene it seems. James has been in and out of the system for decades now. Still hoping some of his talents rub off on Chris. Maybe then he'll learn how to write a song without NC17 rated references.
