Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith have seen their parenting skills come under fire after a picture of their daughter,Willow, 13, in bed with actor Moises Arias, 20, was posted on social media. Now, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that the Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services has officially opened an investigation into the incident.

“The investigation was formally opened last week and is being taken very seriously by the department,” an insider told Radar. “Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have been extremely cooperative with officials. Of course, they aren’t happy that their parenting skills are under scrutiny, but they understand.”

The source revealed, “Social workers will also be talking separately with Willow, and they also want to talk to the young man in the picture with her as well. This won’t just be one or two visits with the family, and it will likely be an open investigation for at least a month, out of an abundance of caution.”

Earlier this month, controversy erupted after 20-year-old actor Arias posted a picture of himself in bed with 13-year-old Willow on social media.

In the black and white pic, the precocious Smith daughter is clad in jeans and a shirt, while Arias is, at the very least, shirtless, and his lower half is underneath bedsheets.

Arias, who’s best known for his stint on Hannah Montana, later deleted the shot with the “Whip My Hair” singer shortly after positing it.

Willow’s mom Jada later lashed out at photographers at LAX when asked about the provocative picture.

“Here’s the deal,” Jada said on May 7. “There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation. You guys are projecting your trash onto it. You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”

People need to mind their effin business. There was nothing "scandalous" about the photo. Sexually repressed or perverted people with sticks up their asses can project something inappropriate in anything. Leave these people alone.

I wouldn't be surprised if he were gay, hence Jada's non-concern in the matter. And Willow is fully clothed. I roll my eyes in indignations general direction.

nothing offensive about the picture of willow and her friend. those who are trying to call this anything more are perv-mongers with nothing else to do.

i hope will and jada will sue for harrassment, because prior to all this child protective services micro-perception of willow, she probably never even had any thoughts of what she was doing was in any way wrong. looks like they are just friends imo.

I don't think the picture is that controversial/provocative,but....

It seems like these kids are being pushed into the spotlight by their parents.Why not just let them be kids,go to school and do 'kid stuff',as opposed to movies and photo shoots? Why do so many Hollywood couples wanna push their kids into Hollywood,too? These two kids have been in the spotlight for most of their lives and I'm not sure that's a good thing.We've seen what can happen to famous youngsters who don't get the chance to lead a "normal" childhood.I'm just sayin'

The funny thing is, kids take dumb photos all day long and post them but only have to face their parents or people at school, not the public. They will have to learn to be more private.
