Joshy's Song of the Week: Love&Rockets 'So Alive'

i heard this when i went to see the film
Rules Of Attraction at the cinema a couple weeks ago.
stood in the aisle checking the credits waiting 2 see the
band name & i d/l the song that night.
just fell in love with the beat, the 80s feel, the sexiness
of the track.
i think it's from '99 yes?
don't know anything about the band, but damn this song gets me happy

"So Alive" is from Love and Rockets' eponymous 1989 album, which was recently re-issued with a bonus disc. I don't think it's their best album, though upon giving it a spin recently after years of not listening to it, I was amazed to hear how well it's aged. Check out "Earth Sun Moon", "Express" and "Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven" if you wanna hear the good stuff...then if you want more, check out Bauhaus, which was Love & Rockets before they were Love & Rockets, with Peter Murphy on vocals (whose solo work ain't so shabby either).

enjoy

Earth, Sun, Moon was a life-changing album for me. I picked it up when I was in 8th grade (about 14 years ago!) and I never listened to music the same again. Love and Rockets are defintiely a favorite band of mine.

I'll never forget the first time I heard their cover of "Ball Of Confusion". been a fan of that band ever since. Earth, Sun, Moon is my favorite, although express ain't too shabby!

Anxiety pointed out some of the Love & Rockets family tree, but I also recommend Tones On Tails (feat. Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins) and Jazz Butcher (with David J), as well as the David J and Daniel Ash solo albums. Oh, and let's not forget the Bubblemen (which is Love & Rockets in silly alien bee costumes)

Absolutely! Actually, I love most of the incarnations and spin-offs of this group. They're damned talented!
