Hip-Hop In 1994 | 20 Years Later

In terms of the diversity and volume of certifiable classic albums, is this the greatest year in hip-hop history? There's an argument to be made for a lot of different years (1986, 1988, etc.) but there were so many landmark albums (including classic debuts) from artists all over the map that are considered classics today. The case can be made.

Other notable singles:

Warren G, "Regulate"

Keith Murray, "The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World"

O.C., "Time's Up"

Ice Cube, "What Can I Do? (Remix)"

Craig Mack, "Flava In Ya Ear" and "Get Down"

. . . And I know I'm leaving several classics off the list.

Actually, '93 & '94 were fantastic years for hip-hop.

Wu-Tang Clan - '36 Chambers',,,,,doesn't get any better than that.

In fact I almost think of 93 and 94 in a continuum. The albums from that year included:

Need to remember business people like Monica Lynch and Steve Rifkind for giving these grimy records a chance.
