As far as a duo I will say yes. I challenge anyone to name a duo made up of two emcees that is more creative,or original.

No, but they're up there with the greats, the Deep South's answer to Erik B & Rakim.

Hmmm, not sure yet, but if they're not, they're awfully close!!! Like everyone else says, Eric B And Rakim are right up there too. But, how come no one's mentioned Kid N Play??

They've been on my mind since going to war with Iraq's been imminent. I can't help wondering if radio stations are playing "BOB" (Bombs on Baghdad) right about now?

But you must remember, with regard to Eric B. & Rakim, only Rakim rapped. How can you compare them to Outkast where both Andre 3000 and Big Boi rap? I think better comparisons are made with Chuck D and Flav or EPMD (as examples only). If I had to decide between Outkast and P.E., it is P.E. hands down.

Hence, the smiley face. But, both groups, JJ & FP and KnP, couldn't be considered to be best rap duo ever. They weren't bad, per se, but not the "best"! I do admit to being a pretty good JJ & FP fan after their first couple of albums! Very fun rap, I'd say!

I kinda liked Pete Rock and CL Smooth myself. Outkast is definately up there with the greats, if for nothing more than doing something different and refreshing.

Run-DMC. How quickly we forget. These cats changed the game and are legends. No one has forgotten about Run DMC. Were they more creative or orginal? And btw they are not a duo but a trio.

Because of Eric B. and Rakim; Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, and Mos Def & Talib Kweli. And how could I have forgotten about EPMD, second only to EB & R? Or Black Sheep? Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Because of Eric B. and Rakim; Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, and Mos Def & Talib Kweli. I'd place Outkast in the top five with the names you mention and Chuck D/Flava Flav. One everybody seems to have forgotten though is Gangstarr, whether Primo counts as being part of a rap duo when he mainly mixes beats is tricky as is the case with Pete Rock and Eric B. Depends what's meant by the thread's definition...

1.Public Enemy
2.Outkast 3.EPMD * If the nest outkast albums are outstanding, then kast will become the best rap duo in the history of hip hop.

Please. Andre raps on a whole different level than any m ainstream rapper ever has. Sit down and listen to him and you'll see (hear) what I mean. Rakim was a great rapper but Andre is way more creative.

Actually yea they were more original. Rock Box, Walk This Way? First cats to mix Rap and Rock. Outkast couldn't have done the things they did if RUN_DMC didn't pave that road. As far as them being a trio, read the statement I responded to above. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance
