John Bonham of course. That man had everything! So much swing and groove. I was just playing Zeps In Through The Out Door CD and people regard it as their weakest but the drumming on there is still phenomenal. I also really like Jimmy Chamberlain of Swan and former Smashing Pumpkins. He's got a lot of power and rhythm. Probably my fave drummer of recent times.

thinking about great drummers. He´s outta sight!!
He´s totally original & groundbreaking.
I love everything about the Ohio Players.

Lars Ulrich is a mediocre drummer. He is not very versatile. On the subject of Metallica though, well kinda, i cannot believe who they have as their new bass player. Holy shit Robert Trujillo! That man is awesome and is as funky as any bass player Prince has had in his band. He was once in Suicidal Tendencies who are not the same band without him. I will actually be looking forward to the next Metallica album as he's a great catch. Better than anything they deserve to be honest.

Peart is the rote response for any list (yes - I'm a drummer and fan, too!) but how about DENNIS FREAQYNG CHAMBERS?!? O Hakim on Gabriel's live jernt is sublime. Love the first fill in 'Red Rain' after Gabriel's opening line. Simple but just so speedy around the kit. Perfect. Oh, and Tony Levin's bass line ain't bad.

Blackwell blew my ass OUT at the Warner last year. Sooo much power - and he did a snare/floor tom thing I'm still not sure I really saw.
