Madonnanation.com deleted my account for defending Janet on another off topic thread where the comments were seriously racist, classist, and encouraged negative body shit - like really disgusting stuff. And i got dragged through the mud for saying anything. It got me thinking how M fans are ALL mostly gay, bitchy, queens who think defamation, humiliation and degradations is 'Ok' somehow...the 'hard cores' she has left in GENERAL make me ashamed to even be a fan - everything is about Lady Gaga being 'fat' Janet Jackson being 'fat' calling r&b "black music" implying Gaga eats spaghetti but Janet eats 'cheetos' and that type of stuff....

...it's so ironic when yes, though she has always kept super fit because she's a POP star, that her fans of all people would be so derogatory - racist - almost debasing of themselves (gay guys) in very "reductive" ways

I do agree about gay, bitchy queens. But they're everywhere these days thanks to RuPaul and that ilk, and just like Weezy & Breezy & Gaga... ignore them and they go away. Talk about her here, its more fun here anyway.

I don't think this is something that's unique to Madonna fans or they are worse than fans of other artists. I think it's just something that's a part of the Internet and forums because of the anonymity of it. Most likely if you met a lot of these people in real life they would be nothing like they are on the Internet. You have to realize the Internet is not real life, and not to take forums too seriously or get caught up in that.

I'm a member of Madonnanation, but I go there primarily to read about Madonna and her latest projects. I rarely look at the Off Topic Section about other pop singers because I really don't like or care about a lot of the other pop divas. When I'm not listening to Madonna, I tend to like mostly rock/indie leaning music or piano based artists like Tori Amos. I enjoy a few Lady Gaga songs although I'm not a huge fan, but of course there are a lot of Gaga haters there. So I just avoid the Lady Gaga threads. I'm sure there are a lot of Madonna fans who are like me that never even look at the Off Topic sections to much. So the people that are being degrading, I don't think are the majority of Madonna fans. It's just a few bored people who have too much time on their hands.

Maybe you were just being too much of an enthusiastic Janet fan on that site.

The Janet fans are sort of hard to understand on this site as well. Not that I wouldn't have personally spent far much more time listening to Janet Jackson than Madonna, but regardless...

i think MJ fans were the worst, but based on madonna fans on other sites, a few things spring to mind...

many of them seem to be young and weren't around, or at least not old enough to purchase her first releases, so they compare madonna to current artists and think of her like she's elvis or aretha comparitively. as madonna is primarily a dance/disco/pop artist as they have primarily pop/dance/disco tastes, they usually have a very strong preference to commercial pop music and dont' understand a wider variety of music such as rock and jazz. furthermore when they hear the non hit tracks she releases they seem to think of this as something incredible and amazing because it's diffeent to the hits and they don't have much in the way of knowledge of music in general to compare it with

plus of course as madonna is primarily a "pop star" as opposed to vocalist or music or writer, her true talents are clearly limited and she's very much reliant on others to write, produce and perform her music for her to sing on, and likewise reliant on others to produce, and create and appear in her music videos, and others to create her photographic work and personal "live" appearances

and for some reason some people consider things they enjoy very personal to them to the degree that they defend any critisism as if it's directed at them personally, althoug in the vast majority of cases most fans are not related to her and never met her, nevermind had any involvement in the creation of the work, plus a large percentage of them have never seen her live once, nevermind seen her up close multiple times. perhaps a bit like people supporting a sports team, and taking it too far

it's a shame as the fans of the likes of madonna and MJ put off people who are geniunely interested in some of the work they do, but you can't discuss it openly and honestly such as like we can do here. if you think about this place, it's full of the biggest fans, but instead of talking like the sun shines out his arse, people openly and regularly put down everything thing he does as well as speak positively about things. so you can't go on a madonna or MJ webshite and say all the stuff after X is shite, but the stuff before then is great, and have u heard xyz outtakes as such and such track is amazing, but this track leaked but it's utter shite. instead they prefer to waffle on about photos and videos and stuff other than the music, and talk shite about stuff they know fuck all about such as the importance of the artist in the context of other artists as they know little to fuck all about the artist in the context of others. for example forgetting about debbie harry, marlyn and 1920s movies dance routines

then hippocritically they go on about other artists as if madonna was the first to do stuff or was responsible for writing and performing it

fans of corporate pop stars are like football or baseball fans.

I once went to a football (AFL) match with my dad and there was an indigenous player from the out of town team & all you would hear when he got the ball was some of the most racist shit ever being yelled at him.

You will never be able to get any attention on the negative and disgusting things celebrities say ...however I'm sure Jimmy Kimmel is planning a segment where Madonna, GaGa and Janet can come on a read the mean things people say on messageboards about them.

They should totally do one and have people come on read mean things celebrities say and do.

maybe it could start with the guy Madonna threw in jail for uploading her song to the internet? And some kids from Palestine talking about celebrities who continue to play in Israel? and

some black women to read Eminems rap about them?

We could make a different one each week!
