Good question shawy smile The genre kind of started as music to take you out there. music designed to make you almost feel as if you were enhanced by mind altering experiences. Hence why bands like The Doors, Pink Floyd, Electric Punes, The Beatles Revolver album, Band of Gypsies etc. A lot of those artists had a ''trippy' feel to the way their music sounds. The Doors for example have a sound all their own. It's dark and looming... as if your on a good or bad acid trip.

I think psychedlic past the 70's can be described as moody rock. At least that's my own personal take on it. Rock that has a feel like you're going on a trip of the mind with the music at hand. Usually the band is somewhat colorful in what they wear, or the album art they put out.

But there's also so many sub-genres... Psychedlic soul, hip-hop, pop, electronic etc. That each kind of have a different feel to it. But i see any psychedlic music as something that makes you feel other worldly. That the sounds take your ears and mind to a higher place.

Some say Acid House & Rave is kind of psychedlic... that's for debate i guess.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
