Barry Manilow's under the radar release "NIGHT SONGS" notches top 10 entry without..... Something you almost never see these days. Not too much of a surprise to see Manilow hit the Top 10 again with an album, since 2002 its happend often though aided by Best of's and "Remakes" only one studio album in there (of all new stuff) hit the top 10 but still for a guy who hasnt had a Top 40 hit since 1983, and his "hey day" of charts was all through the 70's and very early 80's notching 25 top 40 singles. Manilow's latest album is a bit of a shock to hit the TOP 10 at Number 8 this week, not that he doesnt have the rapid loyal base, he does, still one of the top touring artists. But this album though not of new songs, are very very unknown standards, VERY not even fellow artists and writers knew what he was doing, but also ODD is this album is just Manilow, no one else, He produced it, just him playing piano and acoustic bass thats it, all stripped, no overdubs either. BUT even stranger is this album is OLD SCHOOL, 91% of its sales were through the internet, stores like Best Buy arent carrying it, and also NO ITUNES at all, no digital on this record. Guess it can still be done if you got the fans.
