Come On Get Up vs. Rock With U

Which Janet dance piece do you enjoy better? Come On Get Up which should have been the All For You of 2002, or Rock With U with it's catchy piano hook and harmonies? I love how ahead of time both are and it's a shame the first one wasn't an official single. I'll go with Come On Get Up, I still remember how nice it was hearing the song previewed on the radio upon the album's release, though RWU has such a good video. I wonder if she wanted to do a video like that for the first choice

I think I'm having janet withdrawal

They are both not really ahead of their time, but Rock with u is really cool. Should have never been a single though. Maybe Come on get up should have been a single, don´t think it´s very strong. It just doesn´t hit me like a Janet song usually does.

"Come On Get Up" was the perfect follow up to "All For You" that never happened. Another missed opportunity by Virgin. Had Pop hit written all over it.

"Rock With U" did about what I expected. I loved it but I thought it would be big in dance radio and charts but not the regular charts in general. I kind of lost some respect for the song after I realized that it relied heavy on a sample for the majority of it's groove. I was giving Jermain Dupri a little too much credit upon first hearing it. Then someone here I think shared a YT video of the original song and I was all disappointed that Jermaine really didn't show any growth, he just looped a beat and had NE-Yo write to it. lol

Both are kinda lame, as are these multiple Janet Jackson threads. Maybe Miss Jackson should get locked up top there with her brothers...? Get over it - the era of the Jacksons is long gone.

.

"Come On Get Up" was a lameduck retread of "Go Deep" without any backbone.

Both songs are soul less - prime examples of Janet

Jackson in decline.

Eric Stamile has writing and co-production credit on "Rock With U", but yes it was based on his remix of "Tropicalia" by Blue Six.

I still like "Rock With U" better than "Come On Get Up".

Actually, so are the Beatles, Elvis and other honkies, all their days are gone. What's your point? I didn't make this thread to talk about whether she's still relevant, but to simply talk about the music for many of us that do listen to janet or grew up with her. And for your information, I've said numerous times on this board that Janet has nothing left to prove and it doesn't matter to me if she decides to come back or not though I would support it if it's good. I've moved on from the days of big pop stars and hype and just listen to what I think is good from all genres.

I liked hearing Come On Get Up on the radio but I also remember thinking a lot of times that whenever janet did a eurodance sounding song even though melodic, it was to fill the album, cause this was the woman who did If, This Time, Control etc. and though I love dance music, I felt as a whole it was mainly simple and rushed. Having said that, I think the song aged better than I would have expected and fit in with dance music on the radio today, same with Rock Wit U.

Wow! Never heard that one before and I'm old enough to remember it if I had. Thanks! So they sampled a sampled to create that dance gem huh? Cool.

My point, Jethro, is that its annoying to see five posts of janet songs "vs" janet songs. It makes it pretty clear there is not much to talk about in backwards land. .

Yes this board has become boring in general, can't disagree there

Come On Get Up

This is actually one of the stronger tracks on the All 4 You album.

yeah absolutely, it was on again off again for the first year, but I love it. Love the performance at the All For You tour and it's choreography and look, what a perfect intro! I wish the video wasn't canceled and parts of the performance were used for the video and combined neatly with rehearsing the song, kind of like a dancier because of love video.

Agree. The org just assumes that everyone is a Jackson's fan. I remember there was once a thread about New Kids on the Block's HANGIN TOUGH album, and how much it sold...and someone came out of the blue and said something like "...and here's the million dollar question: how much did it sell compared to Rhythm Nation?" Like, seriously? Stop pretending that she's the benchmark for everything.

Well, both albums were released somewhat close to each other and that may have been asked out of curiousity or nostalgia. The main complaint I had is that these Janet threads are similar to the recent J5 threads ad nauseum that were relocated to the MJ thread up top. Plus alpha's strange and not so subtle racial overtones are bothersome/absurd.

Nope, I actually dont believe that, and I myself argue with janet fans on this board that overhype her sometimes, move on.

I am not sure why people have such a deep seeded hatred toward the Jacksons on this board. This forum has had multiple threads of other artists in the past and nothing is said but when the threads are on a Jackson there seems to always be a double standard.

yeah i dont get it, and the thread title is clear as day so why even come in and comment.its like fans are not allowed to enjoy the music the jackson family contributed ,i see threads made about artists and songs that are decades old, i see fonts comparing how great the beatles and elvis are but if somebody makes a thread about a jackson its a problem.im still curious about what exactly is there to hate about the jacksons. im not talking about the usual mj fans vs janet fans, or mj fans vs the rest of the fam.
