D'Angelo Added to James Brown Tribute Lineup
The R&B singer joins Aloe Blacc, Angélique Kidjo and other special guests for "Get On Up: A James Brown Celebration" at the Hollywood BowlWhile a release date for his long-awaited RCA album is still forthcoming, D'Angelo has been announced as the latest guest artist joining the lineup for "Get On Up: A James Brown Celebration." The tribute concert, honoring the legacy of the Grammy-winning Godfather of Soul, will take place at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 13. It is part of the venue's Jazz at the Bowl series. Previously announced special guests for the tribute concert include Aloe Blacc, Angélique Kidjo and Bettye LaVette. They will join musical director Christian McBride, and the James Brown Alumni Band featuring Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Jab'o Starks, Clyde Stubblefield and Danny Ray. The concert will coincide with the Aug. 1 release of the Brown biopic, "Get On Up." The film stars Chadwick Boseman (baseball's Jackie Robinson in "42") as the pioneering soul singer and also features singer Jill Scott portraying Brown's second wife, Deirdre "Deedee" Jenkins. "Get On Up" is directed by Tate Taylor ("The Help") and produced by Mick Jagger and Brian Grazer.

They should invite Prince, Janelle and Bruno Mars to make tribute also,, especially Janelle and Bruno, they can't do JB justice if they don't pay homage to his dancing & showmanship..

I wouldn't count on Prince performing even if invited. But Janelle and Bruno Mars if invited would go over great. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR
