I guess the 80s are still back?

This is really well-done. I like it a lot as it's an 80s pastiche, but not intended as just some sort of a joke.

I bought this CD a couple of days ago. Still can't get over how Princey some of the songs are, especially the beat on this track that's been posted, sounds like some "Around The World In A Day" type shit. Very cool.

One of the best of the album - maybe this will finally be their US breakthrough?

Picked up the Haim album last year on the strength of the "Forever" single, which was superb....and its one of the best albums I've heard in a very long time.

It reminded me of Ladyhawke's debut, which had a very similar sound and vibe (worth checking out for those that are digging Haim: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...wke_(album) Ladyhawke's follow-up album was poor though and abandoned everything that made the first one so catchy. I love them! I wish they'd blow up here in the US but I think it's mainly because they're so against the grain of what it means to be a female pop act in today's world. I truly believe that's what draws me to them so much.

Is it me, or do the gals come across super awkward with the "sexy" dance moves in this video? Kinda like the director was all "Girls, we need you to drop the instruments and shake those hips"

They're obviously not real dancers and they're out of sync with each other constantly.

It just looks like three girls having fun and that's why it's not as contrived as most other videos that feature dancing.

I couldn't agree with you more. Ladyhawke's first album was so good and very 80s derivative and the second album was garbage. I highly recommend she gets back to the drawing board and go back to her original sound. I love haim's album and truly hope their next album will be a continuation of the first one.

I listened to the album and really liked only the two tracks on it. Those were the ones James Ford has worked on. There are two other producers on the album and while I could sort of see the appeal in the work the Swedish guy has done (Ludwig Göransson), I found the tracks done by the guy that has apparently done everything from Bieber to Vampire Weekend (Ariel Rechtshaid) rather atrocious. Overuse of synths, gimmicky beats and dubstep mannerisms that sounded completely out of place. I have to keep an eye on this James Ford guy in any case. The reason why this track sounds the way it does must have a lot to do with him.

Sunday Drive was the only track I enjoyed, and even then it would have been one of the weaker tracks if it appeared on her debut album. Hopefully, poor sales won't ruin her chances of a return-to-form third album...

Ok so I just discovered this group Haim, and I'm loving their sound! They do the 80s pop/rock music really well--it doesnt come off generic like they're appropriating 80s music or like they're doing a paint by numbers formula to get that perfect 80s sound. Their music is original, authentic and sounds like something that definitely could have come out during that decade yet still hold up well over time

I discovered them from that Target commercial that's playing now, had to find out who sang that song (Forever) that's ridiculously catchy. That song gives me Lionel Richie/Jacksons/DeBarge vibes. They've got great musicality, really digging what I'm hearing

they look good and the songs are catchy but there is something about them that I don't like - maybe it is the lead singer's voice i don't know

Haim are fantastic. I'm sure I posted about them here last year and nobody really knew them at that time.

I love Este, the bass player. She plays a mean bass, and she's fucking gorgeous.

Ha. I said this in another thread. No one wants to let go of the 80s influence. The 80s sound has been dominating for the past 7 years. I honestly dont think we will see a 90s revival anytime soon. Maybe that's a good thing.
