I thought some of you might enjoy this. There have been so many great albums released since 2000 that have been overlooked. Would be interested in seeing what other music fans would list.

a-ha's "Foot of the Mountain" was and is clearly the best. that album should have at least had some distibution in america but basically america lost interest when a-ha didnt hand them "cute poster boy" music after their first record. But its cool, they took a hint from QUEEN and went with the "who needs america" type attitude at times. Funny thing this album would be there last as a band, and honestly its how alot of bands/artists need to go out, on a high note. a-ha had been on a great pace with their albums from 2000 on till 2009, but as always, the friction in that band that existed from day one, kept up stronger and stronger in each record, so while FOOT OF THE MOUNTAIN was top 5 Uk and the song was topping charts, the band pulled the plug, finished that tour then took all of 2010 to do a final tour which ranked in the top 30 tours of the year, as they retouched and played everywhere, even america, to sold out audiences.

This album is straight and to the point, the band was less serious on this album than past ones, the tech/keyboards were back in a big way, but as they put it, they put "limitations" on what they could do, almost no one helped on this record, outside of 2 producers it was the 3 guys around a mic in studios from Norway to NYC. Def a classic record

It's a great album, I really liked Analogue too but there's just something I loved in the directness of Foot of the Mountain, and the production is just so great. But I don't think they released a bad album in their career. The one I listen to least is probably Lifelines or Stay on These Roads but I still think they are good records.

What I've heard of Morten's newest stuff sounds amazing.

I love Foot of the Mountain and On the Jungle Floor, two of my favorites of the last decade.

Its funny cause in their "Swing of things" book, they cite "Lifelines" as where the disputes arose again, but the issues with that record, which to me has some classics, is what Morten sites as a "Bloated" album, Paul was working with his "Savoy" band project, and Morten said the songs he brought in to the studio "did not" deserve to be recorded on the album, which is a pretty harsh thing to say. I think this record Magne found his independance, on this album and on "Analogue" i felt Magne had the best written songs. But i agree not a bad album in this catalog, "Foot of the mountain" is a record i can put on any time and its never old, and I dont skip anything, its direct like you said, total masterpiece, honestly to me Its their "Abbey Road"

As for Morten's newest stuff i am totally digging what i am hearing the first few songs out are great work, he has been popping up alot he is also on the new Scorpions "Unplugged" record and dvd singing "Wind of Change". Magne is once again doing some solo work, and also with his side band Apparatjik with Guy Berryman of Coldplay. And Paul recently came out of hibernation, ironically the guy who wrote most of the stuff, took the longest to finally let some new music be heard, though so far just demos, their is going to be a new album from him in 2014.

I need to get that book, it would be interesting to read more about them. It's interesting they called it "Swing of Things," that's my favorite a-ha track overall.

the book is amazing it had come out years back and i didnt get it, but when they decided to end it all, they reissued it however it now includes all the albums its huge tons of photos like 400 pages incredible stuff, very very in-depth and from reading their notes on all the album especially from "east of the sun" onward you reallly see the tension and how they really were a group of 3 very different guys, even though friends from childhood (paul and mags) honestly their friction is kinda of what broke it in the end. I always admired what they said about "breaking up", they just said it was best to go out like this rather than get to a point when it got petty and fights broke it up. Though the END vote was just 2-1, Paul was talked into it.

The stories on how they recorded and all that stuff is really cool, the photos amazing! great read, tons of info on 3 very unique talents.

i'll definitely pick it up

It's meant to be random and diverse. Just 25 neglected albums. Not the 25 *most* neglected, or a ranking of any sort. Just 25 good albums of varying genres that should have gotten more attention, at least IMHO

I see.. You guys have peaked my interest with the A-Ha albums as well, may have to take a listen, I loved their first album when I was a kid.

I love the Van Hunt, Nicks, and Wendy & Lisa albums from the list. Gonna have to check out the Grace Jones one...

The Grace Jones is really excellent, very funky

I felt the opposite. LOtUSFLOW3R is for Prince fans only.

The same goes for Siouxsie's Mantaray album.

I wouldnt have put PRINCE on this list, Lotus as a one album maybe, it was a strong record, but mplsound was a huge letdown to me, it was too slick with its production and song wise not very interesting at all.

Yeah the intent was to focus on Lotusflow3r as the main record.

I will agree the Grace Jones album should be heard. I was resistant when it was first released until one review described it as goth-reggae. After reading that, I had to get it.
