Has anyone here seen the footage of INXS & Terence Trent Darby from the Olympics some years back? Amazing performances. Was hoping it would of become a regular thing. A match made in heaven. Search for it on YOUTUBE.

.

I know, that performance was BEAST. I'm a fan of both, Terence had some big shoes to fill there, and he delivered. Didn't attempt to copy Michael's style, just went about it his own way, and WHAT a way.

.

I am not going to post that video, instead, I'll go for my personal favourite; maybe a bit too synth for hardcore INXS fans, but I've always loved it, for the music and the lyrics. It was cooked up at The Power Station, produced by Nile Rodgers and features Darryl Hall on backing vocals:

On a related note, Springsteen just covered "Don't Change", on his Australia/NZ tour (Sydney, Feb. 19th):

(P.S. Someone in the band doesn't know what a "double-count" is giggle):

This song is to me their signature song, though it reached only number 80 in america and wasnt even really heard here much, this song was pure perfection, great guitars riffs and the amazing vocals and those lyrics which when broken down, its quite a sad song. Even when Andrew Farris did this song himself on the "Original Sin" tribute album it was incredible!

INXS had a couple really underrated albums in the 90s. "Welcome to Wherever You Are" is amazing, and so is "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts" which basically was a huge flop. It's a shame because they are both great albums.

It's tough because they have so many good ones! I love Listen Like Thieves. Kick was so overplayed but it's still a great album. X was one of my least favorites, I thought the production on it was really murky, especially compared to the crispness of Kick. Elegantly Wasted is just OK for me but I LOVE the Max Q side-project album. It's really excellent, it has some great material.

Welcome is where it started to unravel with Michael, i still feel it was one of their best albums but when it really struggled in america not really have a hit single that was when it was over in america for them, they were viewed as 80's has beens though they were leading and creating alot that others were using in their work (check u2 achtung baby).

I think the big issue was that Michael was viewed as the sex god, and when the 90's rolled around, new sounds and grunge and all that, it was a changing of the guard, and a "pretty boy" like Michael was viewed as nothing else.

Its funny when they did "full moon" which i love also, it was them rebelling it was their last album for WB and it was recorded really quick, but there were literally brawls when this album was being done within the band. Michael at one point spoke about Grunge in the studio and wanted them to be more "dirty sounding" other members said to Michael "why are we going to ride a fad?" even that album cover was a HUGE fight, not what the others really wanted, but Michael in his grunge shirt and the band on a truck was an attempt to get rid of the image for them.

Eleganty Wasted i really like too, some classics on that but again even with a new record deal and alot of money it was still impossible for them to get any play anymore.

agreed on every point lastdecember.

You can actually hear the anger and tension on the Full Moon, Dirty Hearts CD, its filled with allot of passion and agression. But there is beauty in there as well:

Max Q has some of Michael's best lyrics and melodies he ever penned imo..

this is the standout for me off that project:

There is a movment on facebook to have this album re-released and remastered which it needs desperatley imo...

I would love to see it reissued. It's one of the most unjustly ignored albums of that period, for sure. Some great songs on it.

Max Q was a good outlet for Michael and should be re-issued as it showed more of the artist side of him, i think in reality he was uncomfortable with the Image, when the band was called for the Rolling Stone cover they wanted just him and he made them put them all on it. Michael always "valued this band" even when it struggled to be noticed because they were really like "brothers"
