Absolutely awesome album! Definitely her best yet. Every track on here is killer!

It's a solid album, but not great. It starts off really strong with Rattlesnake, Birth in Reverse , Prince Johnny and Digital Witness, then loses energy in the second half with all those ballads. I also wish she was a little bit more improvisional in her playing to counter the almost clockwork arrangement of her songs. I kept wanting to hear some crazy guitar licks or a keyboard solo that took the song in another direction. I would love to hear Prince playing rhythm guitar on one of her tracks. Still, it's an impressive piece of work. I'll just stick to the first half. |
