Justin Timberlake And Janet Jackson - A Prior History

The entire article (kind of long)

http://www.buzzfeed.com/b...-hist-7t5z

1. Justin and Britney shared a kiss listening to Janet

Janet not only influenced Justin but his [future] ex-girlfriend Britney as well. Spears describes her first kiss with Justin during the Mickey Mouse Club on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Speaking of …here they are, dancing to Janet’s “Funky Big Band” in 1993.

2. In the documentary ‘We Are NSYNC’ the group give a tour of their respective rooms. During Justin’s segment, he immediately points to the poster of Janet Jackson by his bed.

3. ‘N Sync Describes Hooking Up With Janet Jackson

The group is about to find out what it’s like to play in front of a large American audience, even if most of them paid to see someone else. On October 14, ‘N Sync begins its stint as the opening act on Janet Jackson’s tour [the Velvet Rope]. To hear them tell it, the boys are pretty excited about the whole thing.

“Dude, okay I just want to say about two to three years ago I had her poster on my wall so I’m psyched. I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to say about that.” Justin Timberlake said.

Below is brief audio footage of an acapella duet performance between Janet and NSYNC of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Overjoyed’.

4. Teen Beat - “Justin’s Famous Firsts” (1998)

First Singer He’d Pick To Take On A Date: Janet Jackson

5. Yahoo! Chat - 3.18.99

popple_81 asks: What group would you like to go on tour with?

Yahoo_NSYNC: Mmmm.. we went on tour with Janet Jackson. That was fulfilling for me.
MG15F asks: If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you take with you? MSB
Yahoo_NSYNC: Music. Music. and Janet Jackson. That’s optional.. it can change to Halle Berry and others..
Autumn_724 asks: Of all the celebrities you’ve ever met, who has been your favorite?
Yahoo_NSYNC: I enjoyed meeting Janet Jackson and meeting Will Smith. They’re very down to earth

6. “No, Not The Biscuit Tin, Justin!” - UK 1999

Q: Who’s the sexiest woman on the planet?:
Justin: The sexiest woman…that’s a good one. Everybody’s so different, it would be hard to pick the sexiest. As far as movies go, I’m totally in love with Halle Berry. I think she’s, like, incredibly perfect. But I’ve always thought Janet Jackson has nothing but sex appeal, so I’d probably say her.
Q: Have you ever had a dream about someone famous?:
Justin: Sure. Janet Jackson. But I can’t tell you what happened in it!

7. NSYNC on the Howie Mandel show

8. Memphis’s Timberlake In... status’

As for dancing, Timberlake credits Janet Jackson’s 1990 “Rhythm Nation” tour as a big influence. “I went and saw her at the Mid-South Coliseum. And that’s what started me off learning to dance because I was so intrigued with how she worked the stage. It was a show. She just didn’t stand there and sing her songs. She came and performed.”

10. NSYNC dances to the breakdown of ‘If’

They also incorporate the famous dance move in their routine for ‘I Want You Back’

11. MTV Top 40 Video Countdown

NSYNC put Janet Jackson’s ‘Every Time’ as their number 34 video. During some candid commentary during the unedited making of the MTV special, an assistant tells the group which video they will be introducing next. Justin mentions he could “watch that video every morning” (Jackson appearing fully nude could be a reason). Later through the day Justin is seen quietly humming the melody of the song to himself.

13. ‘N Sync backstage at the No Strings Attached tour (2000)

14. AOL Chat - 3.16.2000

AOL Host: A new question: Hey, guys, I’m so anxious to get your new CD. My question, I know you’ve done duets in your career, but who do you really want to work with? Thanks. Much love to Justin.
Justin: Janet Jackson.

15. Tiger Beat - March 2000

Tiger Beat gave him two choices in a bunch of categories and asked him for his very personal preferences. Here are Justin’s picks.

Q: Janet Jackson or Michael Jackson?: Janet.

16. German magazine

German translation: At 13 I was the fan of…

17. NSYNC’s mtvICON Janet Jackson tribute

NSYNC covers ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’ at in 2001. Justin along with Chris [Kirkpatrick] speak on touring with Janet and what they learned from her before they introducing their tribute cover. Timberlake humorously repeats Janet being ‘fine’. Backstage he describes Jackson as ‘fearless’ and ‘never looks back’. (x) Later where several male celebrities are seen commenting on Janet’s attractiveness [not included] Justin mentions that she smells like roses.

18. Justified - Thank You liner notes

"To all the artists that worked with me on this album, thanks for being a part of my first project. Janet Jackson-You are a beautiful person inside and out. I can’t wait to work with you again. Thank you for being my friend."

19. ‘And She Said (Take Me Now)’ off Justified

“I wrote the chorus [And She Said Take Me Now] from a girl’s perspective and I just thought we should get a female on the part. Her [Janet Jackson] name was the first that popped up in my head just because I love her voice. It sounds like feathers. I mean, she sounds like an angel. So I asked her, and she listened to the track and loved it. So we went in the studio, just me and her, and I produced the vocals.”

20. FHM, UK (December) 2002

A single Justin addresses rumors that he was dating Jackson. Not only does he coyly refuses to answer, but we see a little ironic foreshadowing in the last question.

Q: So you didn’t suck face with Janet Jackson in a LA nightclub for two hours?
JUSTIN: I didn’t say that. I didn’t say that I didn’t. I didn’t say that I did. She’s a beautiful lady. She’s the sexiest female I think I’ve ever seen.
Q: You haven’t seen any of her piercings, then?
JUSTIN: [sits politely in silence, smiling.]

(For the record, neither Timberlake or Jackson, who was dating Jermaine Dupri, actually attended the Missy Elliott party they were rumored to be kissing at).

maybe the people who always ask why do janet fans hate him so much can finally get it. his ass was thirsty for years but turned his back and drove the bus over her during the worse time in her career.

I remember all the love he was giving janet too since the velvet rope days, he was just a crazy horny boy at the Super Bowl and during that time in general, but it was very hard to not continue playing him cause he and Timbaland are a musical match made in heaven. He's kind of manned up now so I find it hard to be upset

He seems to do that with all the people he loved. I guess that's just his personality.

I would not have cared that much about how he dogged Janet if he did not act like he was "her friend". It is not like JT was just some random performer that performed with her. He had a bit of a history with Janet and they apparently were friends (off stage) so it was messed up how he threw her under the bus like "they weren't friends" when they did have a frienship off stage. I would imagine they are not friends anymore...rightfully so. JT is phony. Friends don't do things like that. Didn't Janet also let Nsync open up for her at her Velvet Rope concerts to help them get more notoriety? Pretty messed up on JT's part indeed.

Like they always say, "It's not personal, it's just business". They were two celebrities in the music industry. Of course their "friendship" was just business.

Seriously. A full decade later and people are still sulking over it. And from what I recall, every time he spoke on the incident, he would say things like 'We never intended to offend anyone.' So what more was he supposed to do? Be belligerent and pick fights with the media on her behalf? He followed his handlers advice and did what he needed to do to slide out from under the scrutiny to continue his career. It's not his fault if Janet's people couldn't come up with a plan savvy enough for her to do the same.

Right on!!

I don't get all this JT bashing over this incident. After all, it was Janet's tit! She should've known what the reaction would be.

This and This.

Timberfake's part in "Nipplegate" was just as culpable as Janet's yet he sunk back into the shadows and pretended he was just an innocent bystander.

The media acted as if Janet went onstage and just whipped out her titty and started waving it around and Justinsat back and said nothing.

Dude has been fake from the jump. Why should anybody see him for anything other than the culture vulture he really is? Justin's whole career has been contrived. He has always been a midget standing on the shoulders of giants.

People still mention it because it went unresolved. He showed his true colors and people still remember it.

No. When it first happened, he was seen on various outlets letting his bravado flag fly, saying things like "We did that shit" and "We gave 'em something to look at" (not verbatum, but that's the gist). A week later, after the proverbial shit hit the fan, he was on those same outlets talking about how upset his grandma was and that he regretted doing it. Even recently, when asked about it in an interview, he basically said he wasn't handling that situation with a ten foot pole. He has apologized several times throughout the years, but when he should have come to her defense the most, he bailed.

Forward to 13:24 to see how Justin felt when the heat started coming down on them (which contradicted his earlier hubristic standpoint)...

News flash: It was his hand that revealed her tit. Shockingly, all women AND men have tits. Why are women always the ones who are told that we're basically pieces of shit for having tits? At least ours exist for a purpose.

And I see all of your creations as one perfect complex
