First time on CD for O'Bryan "Be My Lover". But, it's courtesy of Vinyl Masterpiece and they usually do vinyl rips. And since Capital Records is part of Universal music group, this will probably be a vinyl rip. But, the samples don't sound too bad. I want this really bad but I don't know. Listen and tell me what you think?

Bobby Charles Bobby Charles Original Release Date: January 01, 1972 Available: February 18, 2014 . Bobby Charles pioneered the musical genre known as ‘swamp rock’ – he wrote the early rock n roll classic “See You Later, Alligator” (best known via the version by Bill Haley & the Comets). Another early gem penned by Bobby Charles was “Walking to New Orleans” as recorded by Fats Domino. He also appeared at the legendary “Last Waltz” concert in 1976 – in which he performed “Down South in New Orleans” accompanied by The Band and Dr. John. . But the main reason that musicians like Andy Cabic of Vetiver sing his praises (and cover his songs) is for Bobby’s 1972 self-titled album released on Bearsville. Despite numerous CD reissues through the years, this is the first time in decades that the seminal album has appeared in its original vinyl LP format. . A virtual who’s who of classic ‘roots’ rock – the album features 10 Bobby Charles classics supported by the likes of Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, and Richard Manuel of The Band, long time Neil Young sidekick Ben Keith, Bob Dylan’s former running mate Bob Neuwirth, session maverick Amos Garrett, the esteemed Dr. John, Geoff Muldaur and several others. . But this is far from an all-star jam session – this is an ensemble record in the truest sense of the word – with each musician simply supporting the Louisiana vibe that flows thru the 10 song collection of country, blues, R&B, and folk that all have that distinctive Bobby Charles signature sound. Album also includes the slow burner “Street People” as featured on Country Funk 1969-1975, Volume 1. . Perhaps Dr. John said it best “I think all of Bobby’s songs have something to offer at all times, for all people.” . Light In The Attic now offers Bobby Charles re-mastered from the original tapes, packaged in a beautiful gatefold sleeve and waiting for heads to turn on and tune in ‘round the globe.

The Who: Sensation - The Story Of Tommy DVD & Blu-Ray
Release date: March 11, 2014
.
1968 was a time of soul searching for hit making British Rock band THE WHO. With three badly performing singles behind them they needed a big new idea to put them back at the top and crucially to hold them together as a band. Pete Townshend’s bad experiences with LSD and his questioning of the cult of celebrity lead him to seek answers. He looked for spiritual inspiration from Indian Spiritual Master Meher Baba who had kept a vow of silence since 1925. Baba’s message of love was simple, but the deeper message of discovering reality through different states of consciousness without relying on our natural senses, inspired Pete to create the character of Tommy, the “deaf, dumb and blind boy”. . Again inspired by Baba, Pete gave his creation extraordinary powers as a Pinball Wizard who soon gathered around him a band of loyal devotees. THE WHO were broke and fragmenting when they started recording and they stayed on the touring treadmill to generate the cash that would pay for the studios and keep their passion and the project alive. . When completed the album went on to sell over 20 million copies and it was an exuberant and renewed band that took this unique album on a triumphal tour. It put them firmly back on the musical map and as gigs sold out it became clear that far from losing their magic this most iconic of bands had created a character and a redemptive narrative that struck a chord with fans and non-fans alike. They toured it to vast acclaim and even when the band thought it was a bad gig the audience loved it! Tommy wowed them at Woodstock and at the Isle of Wight Festival. It elevated Pete Townshend from a tunesmith into a composer and crystallised Roger Daltrey into one of the world’s leading front men and launched his acting career. Ultimately the story of Tommy has a happy ending both for the fictional character and the band who brought this extra-ordinary being to life. . This fascinating film, made with the total co-operation of the band, tells how The Who struggled to create the first Rock Opera – and how its success changed their lives. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

On March 18, the Dukes of September Rhythm Revue, a supergroup consisting of Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald, will put out a Blu-ray/DVD of a concert recorded in Nov. 2012. . The release of ‘The Dukes of September Live’ will coincide with the March 13 airing of the show, which was filmed at New York’s Lincoln Center, on PBS’ ‘Great Performances.’ The songs touch on hits from the catalogs of all three men — including ‘Hey Nineteen,’ ‘What a Fool Believes’ and ‘Lido Shuffle’ — with some of choice covers of their favorite soul songs, such as Chuck Berry‘s ‘You Never Can Tell,’ Arthur Conley’s ‘Sweet Soul Music’ and the Isley Brothers’ ‘Who’s that Lady?’ . “I love revues like the Dukes,” Fagen said via press release. “Different singers, all kinds of surprises. If the listener’s indifferent to one tune, they’ll dig the next. Plus, we’re a real band. Mike, Boz, the musicians and singers are on stage all night.” . The Dukes of September grew out of Fagen’s New York Rock & Soul Revue, which toured from 1989-1993 and released a live album in 1991. . ‘The Dukes of September Live’ Track Listing ‘People Get Up and Drive Your Funky Soul’ You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Elton John Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on Blu-Ray Pure Audio DiscBlu-ray Pure Audio Discs: No Compression, No Compromise
Blu-ray Pure Audio Discs Offer True High-Resolution 24-bit/96kHz Audiophile Sound
Includes the Stereo Mix of the Brand New 2014 Remaster & 2003 5.1 Surround Sound Mix of the Album
.
Universal Music Group has gone back to the original master tapes to deliver fully uncompressed, high-resolution versions of many of your favorite albums on Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc. Mastered at 24bit/96kHz, Blu-ray Pure Audio Discs deliver the sound the artists originally heard in the studio when these classic albums were recorded. These discs provide all the recorded musical information. While convenient due to their small file size, today’s heavily compressed music files do not represent the true fidelity of the original album.
.
• Recordings are transferred from the original master tapes and delivered in high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz audio
• No compression is utilized, and the sound quality is vastly superior to MP3 or standard CD
• Three separate choices of audio file format for playback: PCM 2.0, Dolby True HD, or DTS-HD Master Audio (5.1 available where noted)
• Your preferred audio format is chosen either by pressing the "Audio" button on your Blu-ray remote or via your onscreen menu display
.
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the album that turned Elton John into a true superstar. Although he was already known in 1973 due to the growing success of his previous albums - including Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player, Elton John and Honky Chateau - it was the release of this double album that made Elton a household name, going on to sell a staggering 31-million copies. Goodbye... perfectly marries the various elements of Elton’s craft: classic songwriting, glam stomp, R&B, gospel, jaw-dropping performances, soul and a large helping of brilliant showmanship.
.
The album spent eight weeks at No.1 and went platinum seven times over in the U.S. It also contains Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s most successful song, “Candle in the Wind”; a No.1 hit three times, in three different versions, in three successive decades, ultimately becoming the biggest-selling single of all time. It also features dynamite standards such as “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” and “Bennie and the Jets,” the latter being the song that led to Elton becoming the first white performer to appear on the influential American R&B TV show Soul Train. The album is also ranked No. 91 in Rolling Stone magazine’s “Top 100 Greatest Albums Of All Time” chart. In a career filled with highlights that other artists can only dream of, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road stands as a towering achievement, a defining moment in the most exciting era in rock history.
.
Often referred to as the pinnacle of Elton and co-writer Bernie Taupin’s creative powers and commercial success, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the eighth studio album the pair had released in a three-year period. But the recording of the album wasn't the smoothest of experiences. After initial attempts at recording in Kingston, Jamaica, were derailed by the double whammy of industrial action at the studio and further disruption was caused by a world boxing title fight in the town, Elton and the band returned to the familiar settings of Chateau d’Herouville. The album was completed in a staggering seventeen days (including mixing!) and the result is a body of work of huge ambition - kicking off with the grandiose, epic prog rock sound of “Funeral for a Friend / Love Lies Bleeding,” and effortlessly segueing between pop, hard rock, soul, and stunning heart-wrenching ballads.
.
The album artwork was also a giant leap forward creatively for Elton. Whereas earlier album artwork either didn’t feature Elton at all, or showed him as an earnest early 70’s songwriter, here he can been seen resplendent in sparkling platform boots, a satin bomber jacket and, of course, his soon-to-be trademark flamboyant eyewear. The sight of him stepping from an unglamorous normal street into a magical fantasy world is not only a metaphor for the transition he was going through as an artist but is one of the most defining images of early 1970’s rock music.
.
Elton John's iconic 1973 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album presented in glorious HD on the Blu-ray High Fidelity Pure Audio format. This will include the stereo mix of the brand new 2014 remaster as well as the 2003 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.
.
Blu-ray Pure Audio Discs:
Audio is taken from the original master tapes and mastered in 24-bit/96kHz resolution with a choice of three sound formats: PCM, Dolby True HD, or DTS-HD Master Audio. You can finally enjoy the music in the fidelity originally experienced in the studio.
.
Operating Instructions:
• Simply load the disc into any Blu-Ray device and it starts to play, just like a CD
• No video needed: Blu-Ray remote allows track selection and preferred audio format
• Alternately, use your onscreen display to select tracks and preferred audio format

Ahmad Jamal The Piano Scene Of Ahmad Jamal on 180g Import LP from Speakers CornerAvailability: MARCH 25, 2014
.
The early recordings made by Ahmad Jamal for the Epic label have disappeared into the annals of jazz history. His trio with bass and drums, however, was certainly a whole lot more famous in clubs, at festivals and on TV shows in the '50s. The present LP contains twelve numbers performed as a trio composed of a guitar and bass or drums – Ray Crawford, Eddie Calhoun, Walter Perkins only being known to a handful of jazz fans – and only a few compositions of his own, most titles are favorites from musicals of the day.
.
Ahmad Jamal reveals the influence of Art Tatum and Nat King Cole in his performances, whereby his masterly art and independent style is already recognizable. The trios are quite unique in themselves, although the hierarchy is unchangeable: Ahmad Jamal is and remains the boss; he performs the majority of the solos. A special highlight is surely the first version of "Billy Boy."
And not only Miles Davis praised the pianist for his technical prowess and wealth of ideas. "Aki And Ukthay" (Brother and Sister) also offers the possibility to admire Jamal’s pianistic proficiency. What a good idea to bring out these early recordings once more for jazz lovers. Especially because the Epic label is truly underestimated in the record market. The recording quality is absolutely impeccable – a true listener’s gem.
.
Musicians:
Ahmad Jamal (piano)
Ray Crawford (guitar)
Eddie Calhoun (bass)
Walter Perkins (drums)
.

Ray Charles Ray Charles on Limited Edition 180g LPAvailability: APRIL 29, 2014.
Remasteredby Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Mastering with Ron McMaster
.
Perhaps the greatest crossover artist that ever was, it is impossible to overstate the impact that Ray Charles had on the evolution of both R&B and rock & roll. Charles' distinctive style transcended genres and influenced musicians from every musical background and from every corner of the globe, but it was during the mid-'50s that Charles really began to rule the R&B charts.
.
His legendary self-titled debut LP, originally released in 1957 on Atlantic (and later renamed Hallelujah! I Love Her So), was essentially a collection of those hit singles. In 1955 Ray had his first #1 hit, "I've Got A Woman," followed by his second and third No. 1 hits, "A Fool For You," and "Drown In My Own Tears," over just the next few months.
.
Almost all of the remaining tracks on the album were also Top Ten hits from that same period, including "Greenbacks," "Hallelujah I Love Her So" and "This Little Girl Of Mine." This was undoubtedly the era that defined the legend! Remastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and at Capitol Mastering with Ron McMaster and pressed on limited edition 180 gram vinyl.

House Of Pain Jump Around on Limited Edition Green Colored 12" VinylRelease date: March 18, 2014
.
"Jump Around" is an impossibly infectious and catchy single. By now you'd be hard pressed to find a music fan of any genre not familiar with House of Pain or their smash hit. The song has been a main stay in arenas for the past 20 plus years. Released on Tommy Boy Records and produced by DJ Muggs (who had just masterminded Cypress Hill's groundbreaking debut) "Jump Around" has a beat that is just undeniable.
.
Made up of part Chubby Checker, rare soul breaks and a hint of B-Boy classic wild style, Muggs crafted what would go down as one of the best beats of that year. Everlast was able to match the beats intensity with his gruff voice, and countless quotable lines. The beat, the raps, the hook, it was all there.
.
B-Boys and punk rockers alike gravitated towards the song, it was everywhere, even before the tidal wave of attention the cut received on MTV. So what do you do when you have a song this big and need a remix - you get super producer Pete Rock. By '92 Pete Rock's legend had grown to being one of the top producers and remixers in the game.
.
A year prior he had astonished rap fans with his reworking of Public Enemy's "Shut'em Down" with a pan/horn effect that was so ahead of its time. Known as the "Blood Stain" mix, Pete's remix for "Jump Around" is just as heralded as the original, which is no easy task.
.
This exclusive 12" vinyl release from Get On Down Records offers up the best of both worlds with DJ Muggs' original version and Pete Rock's "Blood Stain" mix, available on limited green colored vinyl as a testament to House of Pain's Irish heritage. Packaged in an 8-gauge crystal clear custom plastic jacket.
.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing "Donna Summer" as a CD reissue. I generally don't like straight reissues because they are not offerring any bonus tracks but if the sound is an improvement over the original pressing, I may buy a straight reissue if I think it's a superior enough album. I have all of Donna's 80's output on CD. Some of the discs were mastered at a low volume, especially "Cats Without Claws". I don't know if I would necessarily repurchase that particular title because the only song I love on that one is "Supernatural Love". But, I think I will repurchase "She Works Hard" and "Donna Summer" if they decide to reissue that one. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
