OutKast ARE NOT working on a new album
The good news about OutKast’s impending reunion? Fans can catch them at festivals like Coachella, Governors Ball, Sasquatch and Drake’s OVO Fest. The bad news? Don’t expect a new album from the pioneering Atlanta hip-hop duo. Big Boi squashed reports -- and many dreams -- that he and Andre 3000 were working an album to coincide with their festival trek. It would have been their first album in nearly eights years. “We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans,” Big Boi told Revolt when pressed on the rumors. “That’s all it is, just the tour.” "It's just the OutKast 20th-year anniversary," he added. "Just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there's no album in the works." OutKast will end its lengthy hiatus with a headlining slot at Coachella in April. The duo will then trot across the globe, performing as a marquee act at more than 40 festivals. Big Boi and Andre 3000 have also been confirmed for CounterPoint Festival in Georgia, Hangout Festival in Alabama and Wireless Festival in London. The reunion marks the 20th anniversary of their seminal 1994 debut, "Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.” After the reunion announcement, reports surfaced that the duo would also release its first album since the “Idlewild” soundtrack in 2006 after both members issued solo efforts.
Big Boi earned critical acclaim from his 2010 solo debut, "Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty," and he followed it up 2012’s “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.” He’s currently working on his third solo effort.
Andre 3000, however, has been easier to catch on screens than on the radio. Though he’s contributed guest verses to songs from Beyonce, Kesha, Lil Wayne, Drake and B.o.B., he’s logged more hours in front of the camera than at a microphone. Andre’s next film shows him channeling Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic “All Is by My Side” -- but he’s yet to offer any details on a long-awaited solo album. | |

Sad but true - Dre just recently lost his dad shortly after losing his mom - http://straightfromthea.com/2014/02/12/andre-3000-father-dad-died-lawrence-walker/ - RIP Mr. Walker and my condolences to Dre and the rest of his family. - Sadly, André 3000 (aka Andre Benjamin) of Atlanta’s legendary rap group Outkast lost his father earlier today (February 12, 2014). - While details are sketchy, a source close to the talented artist confirmed that Dre’s biological father, Lawrence Walker, died of an apparent heart attack today. - Walker had been reportedly out chopping wood for the fireplace and when he returned indoors, he suffered the attack. - The sad news comes just short of a year of Dre’s mother’s death. - Andre 3000′s mom, Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, passed away on May 28, 2013 in her Rex, Georgia home.
My sincere condolences goes out to Andre and his family during this difficult time. -

I was very sadden when I heard this news! I remember posting when he lost his mother last year. No one cared here..... He lost both of his parents suddenly with no prior illnesses. Its very similar to the way Prince lost his...
