  • When somebody says RHCP equals SHIT just because they were FORCED to unplugg the bass in a national big event, you just can't.... Hell.. 10 classic albums.. and they're SHIT because they had to do something not fully shameful (The vocals were live, but hey, everybody seeks the blaming).

I mean i hate when its done dont get me wrong, id rather here it LIVE than anything, but there arepolitics involved with it, also PAYING artists to play 100% live is an issue, some shows cut corners. 2 of my favorite artists did it numerous times

Morten Harket of a-ha just recently appeared on the Billboard Music awards and did about 30 seconds of take on me, during the Pitbull and Aguilera rip off of their global hit. But it is what it is, it was the first time the guy had been on USA TV screens literally in almost 2 decades. Did i hate it, shit yeah , and so did fans of him and the band, but did they take away the fact he is one of the best voices ever, and still tours LIVE. Then Rick Springfield back in 2004 performing on the Jimmy KImmel show, he was sick and vocals werent up to par, so he couldnt hit the high notes on the song being played that night so 90% of the song was live till that high part which was punched in from the record. It happens, but dismissing talent cause of some stupid superbowl show is a joke

Classic in their own genres and that is funk rock. Plus, if we don't count One Hot Minute & their first album.. their other 9 EPs are actually CLASSICS.

dismissing attitude, also, the fact that they haven't released anything decent since 1999 doesn't help either

any rock band should said just "NO" if forced to unplug their instruments

  • Everybody seems to hate what he likes to hate, and loves what he likes to love; i.e. You blame people for lip syncing and you forget that one of your favorite artists lip synced whole tours & performances. I'm not talking to you Joe and no need to mention names of those artists.
  • You blame artists for doing ONE thing wrong while they've been all their career amusing you with classic & good music. This is ungratitude in my opinion. Like, can you just shut up?
  • And, try to walk in their shoes, hell, ain't it hard? When you do a lot for your fans & listeners but then when you screw up ONCE or TWICE they all turn their backs. What kind of sick ass mentality is this? Try yourself to go to the studio and see what it feels like!!

  • The music business is a hard one, you have to do things to stay on top. You get a big gig like The Super Bowl that can rise you to Jesus popularity.. you can't refuse unplugging your BASS. Even if you turned it down, you'd regret it later.

And Honestly it was probably the biggest paycheck of their career, so whatever, it was Bruno's show, i think its lame that the media world now has taken that shine off him and put it on this lame event.

For me it sounds like the media just itches for something negative to blame, the show was good, and they used Flea's note to bitch about it.

Here is what Axl has to say... his opinion is the only one that counts razz :

In The Name Of Science

In regard to the internet's "no wireless" controversy regarding the Red Hot Chili Peppers Superbowl performance as reported on ESPN...

I enjoyed the show and I've no idea what the real story is nor would I want to suggest or imply anyone wasn't actually performing or that what they were playing wasn't what we actually heard. That said I feel it's important to always look on the positive side of things and to give the benefit of doubt.

So consider that maybe sometime before their actual performance that rather than use a guitar cord or standard wireless, that in the name of science and for all mankind Flea courageously had a newly invented breakthrough in microchip technology installed in his ass that picked up the frequencies of his bass and transmitted them to his amplifier.

Maybe they all had microchips installed in their asses and not only pick up the frequencies of their instruments but get Direct TV and the internet too! Like Google Glass... Google Ass! They could be "Scientific Pioneers!" Like Buzz Aldrin and shit! True (pardon the pun)ASS-tro-nots! Or like Superbowl crash test dummies for bands kinda like those cars that drive themselves!

And besides... If the band wasn't really playing or wireless or whatever and Anthony was really singing they may have set a new world record for the largest karaoke audience ever! Awesome!

So relax and show some pride! This is probably all just Google finding new ways to enrich our lives with the selfless volunteering of the Peppers and the ever ongoing creative process of true innovation or perhaps a new lounge bar record of super magnificent proportions and a new pinnacle of human achievement not seen since the sign language guy in South Africa!

God Bless America, the Peppers n' technology... PN'T!

Axl

I like RHCP and would love to think they have another classic album in them, but I think Rick Rubin is preventing them from having the inspiration to do something extraordinary. What Rick did for the band with albums like Blood Sugar through to By The Way will always be good. But the previous couple of albums have a going through the motions type feel. There's an energy that's not quite there and it's got nothing to do with age.

I've learned to forgive them their bastardization of funk music over the years. At one point I did consider them one of the worst bands in the world due to that, but the guys are funk musicians at heart and no amount of that horribly banal, unimaginative radio rock they've done later can take that away from them. Lord knows they've needed all that money to support their drug habits.

I like the way you rearranged the letters of that acronym in the title of this thread though.

Prince has played a few times (like MTV Awards) where just his guitar and mic were live and the entire band was miming.
