I think i'm starting to somewhat Locked Out Of Heaven and Treasure. I despise Grenade and Just The Way You Are with a passion... my gosh i hate them. But i think i am starting to see the charm of Heaven a bit. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I wonder if Bruno Mars will end up being a much respected musician, in terms not of the general public but of the critics. He's certainly releasing good music now, he's growing as an artist. Will he continue to grow until he becomes an essential reference of our time? That's a possibility.

"Locked Out Of Heaven" is a brilliant pop tune. "When I Was Your Man" and "Treasure" are quite good. Like you, I don't like his previous album, but the new songs are promising. I haven't dared to buy the whole Unorthodox Jukebox album, but I may finally do it. Let's believe in the guy. He seems to know his R&B lessons, and now the question is if he will develop those lessons towards something more personal and creative. [Edited 2/4/14 2:21am]

that is all fine but overall she isnt cross over meaning you will not expect to see her get Beyonce Bruno Mars type attention. So it isnt necessarily a race issue, its just on average Bruno Mars and Beyonce get more "white" attention than Janelle did. I can remember way back in the early 2000's and i was talking to a Universal Records person who was in Promo, and we were talking about MYA and her 2004 album "Moodring" which was really the end of her "mainstream" attention of any sort, most people dont know she records or tours still. But he told me straight out, that she would never get Beyonce attention, cause they "tested" her music and "generally" white audiences did not like her image, sound, attitude, she had too much to speak about. And "black" radio wasnt that crazy about her either cause she was viewed as "difficult". Its all image, if you have something to say and piss people off, your gonna lose out, Janelle speaks her mind, Beyonce rarely does, and if she does, its "safe" Bruno rarely says much which is good, your a singer, make music dont talk too much. Well its not about them cause there audience is set, The whole reason BRUNO is picked to do the superbowl is because he is the "Safe" choice which is a race issue, possible hidden race issue. If popularity really was the case why not have Jay Z up there or 50 Cent when he was the "guy". I doubt you will ever see Eminem up there either and there is one of the biggest sellers of all time, cant say he doesnt have an audience, but EVERYONE has to approve, sponsors would never let anyone close up there, the chili peppers when they were "dangerous" never would have been asked, now they are looked at like the "granfathers" of the day. Bruno is a safe choice, people are asking about Jack White, no way, never, wont happen. Expect someone like Katy Perry or Pink next time, though Pink may not be safe, everyone thinks she has talent. I loved those songs I became a fan when he did nothing on you with B.o.B, but I can understand why some may have not been a fan during his debut. He is a good song writer but in a way it's like he dumbs himself down for radio. I always felt he can do better and he proved that with his second album. His songs are going to get better with every release.

I think for a solid six months, every time I visited the laundrymat, I heard "Grenade" being played and was like, "here we go again with that song" LOL.....Bruno really did a great job on Sunday. I have the popcorn out and ready for when he has his 'moment' where he tells the record execs to kiss off and he does a random, psychadelic album.....
Whoever said that it's gonna be tough for Bruno to have Prince's range of diversity in his music catalog was spot on. I hope Bruno doesn't get stuck in Top 40 for too long but I understand he wants to build his fan base for a while before he gets "weird" on us.
He's got a long career ahead of him and I think he's gonna help save R&B from the depths of hell.... Trolls be gone!
