I heard the whole song "Xcape". Not bad! At least this song sounds like him & not an imposter. I also feel Sony is exploiting MJ. Since their relationship deteriorated before his death & drove him to an early grave..

I think you either love the cover or hate it.

Unlike the last album, I think this might have some potential on the charts. And the bonus disc with the original recordings, at least the Estate has listened.

My hope was that the will.i.am tracks could've made the album but doesn't look like that will ever happen. Regardless, I have high hopes for the album but don't want to get too excited due to what's happened in the past with the Estate.

XSCAPE-Long Awaited New Music From Michael Jackson

Out On Epic Records May 13

Epic Chief L.A. Reid Teams Up With Top Producers To "Contemporize" Songs From Iconic Artist's Archive

NEW YORK, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On May 13, Epic Records, in conjunction with the Estate of Michael Jackson, will release XSCAPE, an album of new music by the internationally beloved music icon and King of Pop,Michael Jackson. The project features eight new tracks, which the world will be hearing for the very first time on the new album. For the ultimate fan experience, XSCAPE will also be available in a Deluxe Edition, which includes all of the sourced Michael Jackson recordings in their original form. The XSCAPE standard and Deluxe Edition's are available for pre-order beginning April 1 on iTunes.com/MichaelJackson and elsewhere, and available at all retailers worldwide on May 13.

XSCAPE is executive produced by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who, after an initial mining of Jackson's archives by the Estate, was granted unlimited access to the treasures representing four decades of material on which Jackson had completed his vocals.

Reid curated the final list of recordings to deliver to the producers, who retooled the production to add a fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson's essence and integrity. It's a process Reid calls "contemporizing." The album's lead producer, Timbaland was one of a handful of producers Reid believed had the gravitas, depth and range to creatively engage with Jackson's work. Additional producers include global hitmakers Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain.

"Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributionsMichael Jackson gifted to the world," remarked L.A. Reid. "Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world."

The title of this album honors Michael's album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project. Written by Michael Jackson and Jerkins, and produced by Jackson and Jerkins, "Xscape" has further significance in that it is the one track on the album that was 'contemporized' by the producer who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.

John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson said,
"Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds. He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision."

XSCAPE is a long awaited collection of exciting new music that will thrill the legions of fans of one of the world's most revered and best-selling artists, as well as attract a whole new generation discovering his artistry for the first time. In conjunction with the release of XSCAPE, Epic / Sony Music will launch an unprecedented global campaign with the One Sony sister companies, Sony Corporation, Sony Mobile Communications, and Sony Network Entertainment International drawing from all of Sony's strengths and consumer reach.

"Michael has long been a treasured member of the larger Sony family," said Kazuo Hirai, President and CEO, Sony Corporation. "Starting with the release of 'Off The Wall' in 1979, Sony Music Entertainment has since released all of Michael's recordings. We are thrilled and privileged to be collaborating as One Sony to celebrate Michael's latest legacy, and bringing his fans an exclusive experience through our upcoming initiatives with our products and services."

More news about Michael Jackson's upcoming album will be revealed in the coming weeks. Keep visitingwww.michaeljackson.com for new details.

I have to admit to being a little surprised that Epic are ok with a song titled "Do you know where your children are?"

Perhaps they should have expanded on the theme and named the album "Zompeedo"

Xscape is a truly awful title.

That being said hopefully there's some great tunes within.

Whilst I'd like to hear new music from MJ, I'd rather hear it in its original form and good that they've decided to do so this time with the bonus disc. I bought 'Michael' but the more modern sounding tracks I'm not really a fan of. Songs like 'Best of Joy', 'Behind the Mask', 'Much Too Soon' & '(I Like) The Way You Love Me' are the best tracks. I think they over produced Beyond the Mask too. I think they did vocal processing on some of the other songs which is probably why they don't sound like authentic MJ tracks. I have a feeling some of the Xscape tracks will be similar in terms of the vocals & "over producing". How many MJ songs does the estate have which are completed?, I also think Motown would still have some MJ solo and J5 tracks in the vaults too. I'd also like to hear Jacksons outtakes from the 'The Jacksons' to 'Triumph' time frame.

It's the most ironically innapropriate MJ song title since "Can You Feel It?"

Doesn't fit the title scheme anyway that Jesse posted. But Love Never Felt So Good is believed to be on the album.

Basically, there's 17 tracks on the album. So 8 tracks remixed plus the originals, then a mystery 17th song, which might be this one that Jesse's talking about.

The 8 songs on the album are believed to be:

Slave 2 The Rhythm
Xscape

She Was Lovin Me

Love Never Felt So Good

Chicago

Blue Gangsta

Place With No Name
Do You Know Where Your Children Are

According to Joe Vogel, "Chicago" (which is not "Chicago 1945") and "She Was Lovin Me" are the same song, and the 8th track will be a midtempo song from the '80s that we've never heard.

Could the mystery song be the duet with Freddie, "There Must Be More To Life than This"?, although I'm assuming it's more likely to be on the forthcoming Queen album with the Freddie outtakes on. On a list of outtakes there are versions of 'I'll Be There', 'The Love You save' and 'Never Can Say Goodbye' recorded for the shelved decade album. 'I'll Be There' was included in the Pepsi commercial but I don't think a studio recording of it was released. The D'Angelo/Mary J & MJ witj Jesse playing guitar collaboration sounds cool. Maybe 'Work that Body' & 'Serious Effect' might be on 'Xscape' or Sony could re-release Dangerous with the planned bonus disc and any other Dangerous era tracks from the vault. A complete MJ collection of all outtakes/demos etc could be cool and suited for like a iTunes release like the Complete Stevie collection on there.
