Let's see--

There might have been a handful of things that sneak through on a few of these, but I INTEND to have all by the following, and will fill gaps as I find them... even if I haven't actually listened to everything with the attention it deserves. Part of my personality is that I find someone I like and immediately try to get everything (or a huge chunk) so that I can get a sense of their entire career arc... the problem is that sometimes that's a whole lot of music, and I don't always get around to listening to everything.

Prince

The Beatles (there might be a few mixes that I've missed)

John Lennon

Bob Dylan (I haven't gotten the last Bootleg yet)

Nick Cave (assorted bands and scores)

Lou Reed (actual listening is somewhat spotty--I got everything in an obsessive period, but that's a lot to listen to, so I've actually mostly focussed on just a few albums)

Jonathan Richman (missing one album)

Harry Nilsson

George Clinton, Parliament, Funkadelic (I think I have all albums under these names--whatever that Makin' Babies thing a few years ago was, I didn't get it. I think I have all of Bootsy, too--but obviously the entire P-Funk collective is nearly impossible, but I'm trying).

Leonard Cohen

Stephin Merrit (I think I have everything--or close--across the various bands)

David Bowie (here I've really just collected--I've barely started listening).

Frank Zappa (this is entirely insane, and I'm not sure why I did this... I've only listened to 2 or three albums... but at least as of about 4 years ago, I was pretty much complete (I'm sure there's been releases since then).

Much fewer albums (but listened to pretty intensely the last 2 years)--Amanda Palmer and her various bands (Dresden Dolls, Evelyn Evelyn, and so on)

Sure is! And if you also like Zappa, JB and P-Funk, you're bound to overlook a few records. Anywho, I see the name Deee-Lite come up a few times. I remember Groove Is In the Heart and I saw them live back then because Bootsy was in the band, but how many albums did they make?

I have the early 1990s box set which has all albums released to that point and includes songs only released as singles.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

And the Talking Heads. But not all of Byrne solo (though most) and not stuff by the others.

Just curious... Of which bands/singers do you own every album they ever made? (And I don't count beginners who only have their debut album!) For me it's really only Bob Dylan who last year released The Complete Album Collection.(That makes it easy.) For everybody else, no matter how much I love the music, there's always one or two missing. So I'm wondering,,,how many completists do we have here?

I don't think I have any artist's complete discography. The closest would probably be Springsteen, but the last full album I bought was Devils & Dust (and there are only a few songs on there I can say I unequivocally love).

I have a lot of Dylan, but nowhere near the whole shootin' match.

I think I had the full Smiths catalog to when they put out that live album (Rank?), but I can't stand Morrissey now and don't have any of those records anymore.

Ditto for the Replacements (probably had all of their albums at one point, but can't stand Westerberg anymore and ditched 'em).
