Motley Crue
are splitting up for good after one final tour with Alice Cooper this year.

The rockers announced the news at a press conference in Hollywood on Tuesday and even signed a legally-binding Cessation Of Touring contract, ending a 33-year career.

Singer Vince Neil told reporters, "We just want to go out on top. Leave a legacy behind. We won't be doing any more concerts after this. This is the final tour."

Bassist Nikki Sixx added, "This is a huge celebration for us. It's going to be a really fantastic tour."

Identity

Mötley Crüe is the musical equivalent of raw sewage. To reference one of the band's songs, don't go away mad (just go).

They should go out with a bang. It'd be fitting considering what Vince and Tommy are best known for by many now wink

It's like the 6th or 7th time - at least - that this band has fallen apart or broken up.

Hands up. Who had even been still keeping track of them to the extent that it was known they were on tour or even together again circa 2014?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

Motley Crue Announce ‘The Final Tour’

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I quite like Motley Crue. They're a fun band and had some genuinely good songs....

I wouldn't mind seeing them and Alice Cooper together. Sounds like a fun night out!

I'm sad to hear they are calling it quits. It would have been nice to get a new album out of them this year though. I guess they can't carry on much longer with Mick's health suffering. What a trooper he is to keep it going for this long in his condition.

TRANSLATION: Bon Jovi is kicking Motley Crue's, Van Halen's, Metallica's Areosmith's & KISS' asses in the last classic American rock/metal band standing contest. On an international level, Motley Crue will never be on The Rolling Stones' level. Ever!

I've always been surprised about this too., Other people like Melvin Franklin & Walter Williams continued performing with health problems, and they had to perform dance steps. Bruce Lee had back problems at the end of his life and Jackie Chan has broken many bones over the years and has a hole in his skull.. Michael Jackson had back problems too from a crane accident. He was performing and it collapsed.

I like the idea that I could sue them if they ever toured again.

No you can't. The only way you could do that is if it isn't all 4 of them. They can't tour as Motley Crue with other members or with only 2 or 3. Didn't you read the "loophole"?

Its pretty much over, i mean Mick is not well but he has done these tours they have been playing quite alot. And this tour will be quite a bit too, the "need for money" is SO DUMB is SO PLAYED OUT, these bands are paid now, Motley is a freaking corporation now, I dont know why people assume these bands are "broke", not everyone is dumb with signing contracts LIKE SOME WE KNOW.

With all the drama between band members over the years its interesting for them to end it this way.
What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

The Crüe is one of the few acts who own all of their recordings.

I'm guessing Mick Mars' illness and them owning their music are reasons why they decided to call it a day.

MICK MARS On MÖTLEY CRÜE's Use Of Pre-Recorded Backing Vocals: 'I Don't Like It'

March 7, 2014

MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars says that he doesn't like the fact that his band uses pre-recorded backing vocals in its live shows, claiming that he prefers to watch groups whose performances are delivered entirely live.

.

During an appearance on this past Monday's (March 3) edition of Eddie Trunk's show "Trunk Nation" on SiriusXM's Hair Nation, Mars was asked about the fact that he has a microphone in front of him on stage during MÖTLEY CRÜE's live shows even though, by his own admission, his "voice sucks so bad."

.

"That's a whole another story right there, son…." Mars laughed nervously, seemingly unsure how he should comment on the issue. "That could get me in a lot of trouble. I could say there's, like, a… Let me put it this way… I'll just say two words and you'll know: Britney Spears."

.

Pressed on whether this was somewhat of a controversial issue within the band, Mars said: "No, but I think that it is between a lot of fans, a lot of music people."

.

Asked how he personally feels about "supplementation on the live stage," Mick said: "I don't like it. I think a band like ours… I have to say '60s bands were my favorite — '60s and '70s bands — because they were real, like, three-piece bands or four-piece bands, and they just got up there and kicked it up. Made a mistake? So what? Sounded a little bit empty here or there? So what? It's the bigness and the rawness and the people that developed and wrote the songs and made them and presented them. To me, that's what I really like. I mean, I could put on a MÖTLEY CD and play with it all day long. I don't wanna do that."

.

MÖTLEY CRÜE held a press conference on January 28 at Hotel Roosevelt in Los Angeles where they announced that the band will launch its "Final Tour" later this year, with the group planning to play 72 shows in North America in 2014 and more overseas in 2015. Making it official, the four members of the band had their lawyer draw up a formal "cessation of touring" agreement that goes into effect at the end of 2015 and prohibits the members of the group from going on the road again under the MÖTLEY CRÜE banner.
