Personally i think that album is way underrated. Its not as Heavy Metal as most of the Black Sabbath albums that preceded it but it still rocked pretty damn good(IMO).

The production is kinda shitty though(IMO).

If i may...

Keep It Warm.

In reality i think that whole period from 1982 to 1992 is underrated.

Here's another one from 80's, Black Sabbath that i like.

Tony Martin sung his ass off on this album.

Nightwing(Headless Cross-1989)

I don't like the Tony Martin era, overall it sounded like a second-hand version of the 1980-82 Dio era...

I would definitely agree that Tony Martins singing was basically a copy of Dio's and(he)was somewhat of a last resort(for sabbath). I would also say that that whole 1982 to 1995 period paled in comparison to Sabbath's 1970 to 1981 period. No doubt about that.

However, i try to look at Sabbath's Tony Martin period as if i had never heard of Ronnie James Dio(singing) or had never heard the singing of Ozzy Osbourne. When i do that, i hear a guy(martin) who had a pretty powerful voice. I think his voice was just as as good as most of them 80's metal, hair metal and rock N roll bands.

Having said that though. When i first heard Headless Cross, i pretty much HATED it. I was(am) a hard core Dio fan and when i heard Headless for the first time, i was like, what's this shit?

For me, minus a few songs, it usually took a while to digest Sabbath's non Ozzy or non Dio albums. And now, as i said before, i think that 80's/early 90's Sabbath period is underrated. There was a lot of cheesy rock n roll in the 80's and all things considered, Sabbath wasn't so bad.

good post, I pretty much agree with it, but I personally prefer The Eternal Idol as the best 83-95 Sabbath album...

and even a bad Sabbath album (I'm thinking of Forbidden) features at least 4-5 killer riffs
