Robin Thicke- Feel Good

Well, Thicke released a new music video for his new single 'Feel Good'. This was one of the better tracks on the album. I do appreciate the mood and the colors in this video. I think this should have been the 2nd single off the album, and not the abomination known as 'Give It 2 U' (although I have begun to appreciate it a little more). Ain't No Hat 4 That is still fantastic though. music

What do you guys think?

It's one of the best songs on the album.Like the previous single "Give It To You",it seems geared towards the clubs, but this song feels more authentic and less "flashy"...and more sincere.Will.I.Am did a good job with the production. The song is light and airy.Another winner for Robin Thicke.

nod Give It 2 U wasn't appreciated by anyone and a bad move after already having been criticized for being sexist with Blurred Lines. This should have been the second single and Ain't No Hat the 3rd! Oh well, too late to change anything shrug

I can't say I care all that much for this particular track off the Blurred Lines abum. I thought the strongest parts of the album were when he was in full 80s disco effect with 'Ooo La La', 'Get In My Way', and 'Ain't No Hat', and later on when he returns to his soul roots with '4 The Rest Of My Life', 'Top Of The World', and 'The Good Life'.

.

.

I agree with you guys that 'Ain't No Hat' would have been greatest as the next single. I think '4 The Rest Of My Life' should have been promoted as well. Wasn't that a download single over summer? We've gone too long without a Thicke ballad on the airwaves. cool

"Ooh La La" should have been the second single. That's the best track on the album, imo music

"Get In My Way" or "Ain't No Hat For That" could have been the follow-up singles. The cool thing about this album is,most of the songs are strong enough to be singles.

actually,"4 The Rest Of My Life" was sent to radio awhile back and it's doing extremely well on R&B radio stations....

Robin Thicke starts 2014 with ‘For The Rest of My Life’ at top spot on charts

January 1, 2014

Robin Thicke rocked out 2013 with various hits, and is starting the new year with a new hit on his hands, according to a Dec. 31 Singersroom report. His song, “For the Rest of My Life” rose to the top of the R&B charts, giving the singer his fourth no. 1 for 2013. “For The Rest of My Life” is one of the songs on Thicke’s sixth studio album, “Blurred Lines,”which is nominated for a 2014 Grammy award.

Billboard reports that “Robin Thicke tallies his fourth Adult R&B Songs No. 1, as "For the Rest of My Life" rises 3-1. It follows this year's 17-week No. 1 smash "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell), last year's "Love After War" (three weeks at the summit) and 2007's 15-week topper "Lost Without U.”

According to BBC, Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” was named the best-selling song of 2013 less than a year before year-end. The track sold 1.44 million copies, with less than a month prior to year-end chart compilation by the Official Charts Company. “Blurred Lines” spent five weeks at the no. 1 spot.

It sure is good to see Thicke do well on the charts after all of these years. This is his 4th #1 song on the RnB charts. I'm crossing my fingers that 'Feel Good' will do well as a single. beg

I do agree that the disco influence tracks on this album are awesome. It really is some of the best work he's done since Something Else.

This über-suave, 'laydeez man' image all looks a bit sleazy. And it seems forced, somehow, in that he doesn't look completely at ease with it. It makes me wonder which is the real Robin Thicke: the long-haired hipster in the comfy sweater, riding his bike through the streets of NYC, or this smoooooth operator in the expensive suit, fawned over by the dancing girls? They're kind of diametrically opposed.

Also, it would appear he's something of a stiff-arse when it comes to dancing. Marvin used to get around a similar condition when performing by throwing some cheesy shapes and "ooooh, baby!" expressions (and then regretting being cast as the stud), but it seems like even that strikes Robin as a bit beyond the call of duty. Makes you wonder how a person draws the line: "Ok, I'll mince after the topless chicks, but I refuuuse to debase myself by wiggling my bottom rhythmically..." hmph!

I get the same vibe from the image he's adopted over the past year or so. It seemed to be a tongue-in-cheek thing in Blurred Lines, but now it's getting tired.

Still, he ditched the Jesus hair fairly quickly, and was suited up and well-groomed by the time the 'Brand New Jones' video came around.

I prefer the middle road he was on from '06 onward; suave but with a tinge of casual.

.

.

As for the dancing, that's just not Robin's forté. Just check out the 'Magic' video, and see how awkward it looks when he tries to keep that up for 4 minutes.

The poor fella looks like he struggles to move out of neutral, let alone dance! Bless.... I was thinking of George Michael in comparison, who, whilst he'll never be thought of as one of the great dancers of all time, always looks like he's feeling the music and has his own little groove thing going on - with the Greek-guy-at-a-wedding finger snaps, etc.

I confess to having only a scant knowledge of RT's pre-Blurred Lines career and the evolution of his image. This most recent persona rubs me totally the wrong way, though, where his earlier incarnations are more likeable. Even the way he looks in the Magic video seems far less smarmy than his Mr Smooth look. Hopefully, he'll return to something like that in due course.

(Side note: 'Magic' is probably the one I like most out of the tracks I've heard by him so far. Are all his songs rehashes of 70s soul classics, though?? confused)

I'd like to think that most of his stuff is original, but I've at times been disappointed when I was really into one of the album tracks only to find out that it was an 'hommage' to an older soul song, or sometimes a flat-out remake. The 'Million Dolla Baby'/'Trouble Man' comparison springs to mind. But he credited Marvin for that in the liner notes. He sometimes neglects to credit his sources.

I was a casual listener of Thicke's work for the longest time, and I bought his 4th and 5th albums only when 'Blurred Lines' brought him back to my attention. I think the poster with the Whitney Houston avatar (sorry, I forget your name!) is much more of an expert on Thicke than I am.

In general, I find that each album has its fair share of songs that are better than the singles he releases... but there's also some filler on there.

Something Else is Robin's best album, imo.A strong, focused, consistent album with no filler.

What I really appreciate about Blurred Lines, though,is that it's almost entirely uptempo. It's a party record....a complete contrast to his previous album Love After War.I feel like,in today's R&B,there's always too much focus on slow jams.I wanna hear grooves, too! Robin delivered.
