Michael vs. Jermaine Part 2: Thriller vs. Let Me Tickle Your Fancy

Jermaine's "Let Me Tickle Your Fancy" was released about 5 months before Michael's "Thriller" as both hit the record shelves in 1982.

Let's put them up in a song battle.

I have added all of the Jermaine songs because, let's be real, we've all heard Thriller and with the exception of Jermaine's title track, the other songs are basically unknown.

First up, the title tracks and also hit singles:

Thriller vs. Let Me Tickle Your Fancy with Devo

- I'll take Thriller this time around. Never cared for Jermaine's title track which features Devo. Never cared for Mike's title track either, but it's better.

Wanna Be Startin' Something vs. Very Special Part

- Next up, two other singles. Jermaine only released two singles from this album, and while "VSP" only charted right inside the Black top 60, it can stand toe to toe with "Startin' Somethin'"

DRAW

You Belong to Me with Syreeta vs. The Girl Is Mine with Paul McCartney

- Two duets were done on this album. One with the legend Paul McCartney and the other with underrated vocalist Syreeta. "You Belong to Me" is a great number, better than the sappy "The Girl Is Mine." I'm taking Jermaine in this one.

This Time vs. Billie Jean

- We all know "Billie Jean' but we should all know about "This Time." Possibly the toughest track on Jermaine record, and should have been the lead single. But however great "This Time" is, this is "Billie Jean" we're talking about, maybe another time.

Beat It vs. Messing Around

- Same as above ... But by any means, are "This Time" and "Messing Around" bad tracks. They's beat any other MJ tracks on Thriller, but I had to put the best vs. the best.

Human Nature vs. There's a Better Way

- Oh man, this is a tough one right here. Jermaines win's out here by a small amount. Tell me this isn't a great Jermaine track?

P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) vs. Running

- Four Jacksons's are featured on these 2 tracks (maybe 5 Randy is credited on Jermaine's album, but not on a specific song.) Running is a little more funkier, So it gets the nod.

Lady In My Life vs. You Moved a Mountain

- "You Moved a Mountain" is a nice ballad, but "Lady In My Life" is great song.

Uh Uh, I Didn't Do It vs. Baby Be Mine

- "I Didn't Do It" is a bad jam, I'll take it over "Baby Be Mine." Though I think "Baby" get's underrated by MJ fans as a throw-away track.

There is a tenth track, "I Like Your Style" by Jermaine. But since it's the title of his previous album I didn't include it here.

So I have it 4-4-1, it's a draw!

SoulAlive

Jermaine Jackson had alot of good singles, but I don't think that any of his albums are essential.I have a very good 'Best of' CD by him and that's enough for me.It's ludicrous to compare any of his albums to Thriller lol
