Madonna obtained her objective - getting her name and her son's name into the news saying something "controversial". It's all about getting the press, good or bad. I'm sure we will be hearing more and more about her son by way of Madge. [Edited 1/20/14 9:38am] |

Why would anyone want to be called a nigger or nigga? Anyone with half a brain and an ounce of self-esteem wouldn't put up with it. |

Sure didn't Prince, under the NPG banner release an album called Gold Nigga (There I said it) and sure diesn't Kanye West and Jay-Z use the Nigga word at least once a verse.......If Nigga and Nigger are offensive to the black community then please let them stop glorifing the word.
Yes I'm and Irish whitey with red hair.... Gingga (Ginger head)....and maybe I don't understand Americans need to jump down folks throats using a language they use all the time ...
Words aren't offensive....intent is....Madonna was court controversy and You all feel for it...AGAIN!!
it's new to me that every black american person uses the n-word all the time. just because you see rappers in the media saying it does not mean every black person in america condones it. that's such a cop-out. i know plently of black people that don't like the word but of course that fact is overlooked by people trying to make a point and put the blame on black people. even if no black people "reclaimed" it, it would not stop that word from coming out of a racists mouth. so this "if black people stop saying, it would go away" is nonsense. As a big fan even I can see the lady dropped a clanger here. She was probably just trying to be "down with the kids" using a bit of street lingo as she saw it, but really, she needs to be way smarter than this....all I feel is disappointed... |

How do we know she posted it herself? I wouldn't be surprised if her son used her account and posted it as practical joke on her. Typical teenage thing. She's obviously smarter than that. I'm not really offended by it because teenagers of all races use the n word ending in an a to mean "bro" or mate or something like that, not in a derogatory racial way. I know there's a history to it being derogatory but that's now how it's used in hip hop parlance now. She's not going to come out and say her son did it and throw him to the press wolves, but I bet that's what happened. |

It's like giving someone the finger. It's a gesture. Some people FREAK when u flip 'em da bird, but y'know...I see YOUR side too. It only has as much power as we give it. I've been addressed in jest by friends as "nigga," but I know what's bein' said. If someone said "nigGER," I don't think I'd be too happy. I don't know...I'm at a loss here, but I just wanted 2 drop by cuz I read your little blurb and am in agreement with it. Happy New Year, my "nigga!" LOL! Hungry? I've said nigga in a funny context before. So have a lot of my friends (Asian, black, white, mixed, and hispanic, females) and no one cares, because we all know we arent saying it in a malicious form. Everyone says it, of any background or society. Its not much of anything. |

This might not make a different to some of you either way, but Madonna did use the one with 5 letters (n***a), NOT the one with 6 letters (n***er).
Oh be quiet...
Oh f*** all of that naive bullshit! THIS is the same Madonna that once sported a gold tooth in her mouth (during the Erotica era) and once admitted when she was a teenager, she wished she was "black".
I'm NOT being quiet for none of you MFers that can't handle the truth. Lets call it for what the controversy really is. Madonna & Rocco, as mother & son, are acting like w***as, plain and simple. It's all a work and I have no doubts for a second that Madonna is doing this on purpose because she might have something to say musically in 2014.

Is it a controversy because people think Madonna's had a momentary lapse of racism or because they think its stupid for a 50 year old woman to act like a little a street kid that grew up in the hood? I think the majority of us here understand the context of her use of the word, but still think its stupid. At the same time, all of us know that she's prone to say and do stupid things occasionally, as is Prince. I think that's something Prince & Madonna fans have in common. They have to endure them saying something stupid at least every year or two years. Comes with the territory. Change it one more time.. |

When people say what's wrong with kids today sometimes the parents are what's wrong with them.
