Madonna obtained her objective - getting her name and her son's name into the news saying something "controversial". It's all about getting the press, good or bad. I'm sure we will be hearing more and more about her son by way of Madge.

How do we know she posted it herself? I wouldn't be surprised if her son used her account and posted it as practical joke on her. Typical teenage thing. She's obviously smarter than that. I know there's a history to it being derogatory but that's now how it's used in hip hop parlance now. I've said nigga in a funny context before. So have a lot of my friends (Asian, black, white, mixed, and hispanic, females) and no one cares, because we all know we arent saying it in a malicious form. Everyone says it, of any background or society. Its not much of anything.

Is it a controversy because people think Madonna's had a momentary lapse of racism or because they think its stupid for a 50 year old woman to act like a little a street kid that grew up in the hood? I think the majority of us here understand the context of her use of the word, but still think its stupid. At the same time, all of us know that she's prone to say and do stupid things occasionally, as is Prince. I think that's something Prince & Madonna fans have in common. They have to endure them saying something stupid at least every year or two years. Comes with the territory.
