Bruce Springsteen offering downloadable USB bracelets at each concert

How cool is this?!?

Coming soon: fans will be able to purchase special USB wristbands online and at tour venues, and use to redeem one live show download, starting with the January 26th concert in Cape Town.

Downloads will be available within approximately 48 hours of the show, and online orders will begin next week!

this has been an idea that was mentioned awhile back, not sure if anyone tried it, i think Simple Minds are doing something like this overseas, overall its a win win situation for the artist, especially an artist that has a great live following like Springsteen, ask Pearl Jam about how great this idea is, one of the first artists to sell their live shows

It's not going to stop the bootleg trade. Personally I'm beginning to feel more and more that a concert should live on in your memory. I do have live CDs of course but it's not like I listen to them all the time. How many times do U really want to hear the same concert?

Is it going to make him a lot of money? No? Then he's not listening.

I have to agree on that too. The Pearl Jam experiment worked, and it totally destroyed any chance at bootlegging them. Bootlegs of shows are awful when shot by an audience member, terrible and trust me i spent tons on Prince ones from back in the day and they suck. To me doing this kills that whole thing off.

Not right or wrong, just a personal opinion, okay? Yeah, I know, Bob Marley's live version of No Woman No Cry was a smash hit. Just saying I don't need to hear the same live recording over and over again. That's all.

No. Mr Nelson needs to cease being overly protective of his music and reach out to distrusting fans. He's so out of step with reality.

The problem I've been hearing from Bruce fans are pretty severe. I don't think this is going to be a hit unless he changes the plan. The cost of the concerts in MP3 format is $40, but you also have to buy the USB drive and pay $10 shipping for it. No one wants the USB drive, and at $50 a pop he's priced himself 2-3 times higher than other artists offerring a similar thing. And the mp3 being the only format means collectors arent happy with the sound quality.

I like bering able to purchase official recordings of gigs I went to and am willing to pay up to around to $20 for good quality audio, maybe a little more for video. But $50 is prohibitive.

I agree.Instead of wasting time going after bootleggers,Prince should be trying out new ways to distribute, sell and present his music and concerts to the fans.
