How Much Grease, Hair Spray, And Criso Do You Think Were Used In Debarge Music Videos? I mean heavy metal & hair metal were killing the ozone lair enough. But Debarge looked more metal than metalheads themselves... Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I was just thinking. You know how they be, 'making it rain' at skrip clubs ? Well back in the day, us Jheri curl wearers could make it rain by just shaking our heads. We'd shake them curls and Jheri curl juice would fly EVERYWHERE. Also imagine having a curl, with juice and all, in 100 degree heat?? Jheri juice would run down our(my) neck, forehead and shi#.
It should be noted. Not all Jheri curl wearers went ballistic with the activator (juice). Most wearers did use some discernment when applying the 'spray'. [Edited 1/16/14 17:14pm] Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

How about Eric LaSalle in 'Coming to America'?
WTF were black folks thinking back then?

I still see people with Jheri Curls and they sell the products at some beauty supply stores. They're usually older, but I occasionally see younger one with S-curl fades and short cuts. Here's a recent picture of soul-blues singer Bobby Rush. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B.
