Phil Collins or Isley Brothers - "If Leaving Me Is Easy" ...
Phil Collins originally wrote this tune for his first solo album, "Face Value" (1980). Ron Isley then covered it five years later, for the Isley Brothers' "Masterpiece" album (1985)...

I gotta go with Phil Collins. What I loved about Phil's singing is how plaintive he sounded, especially since he was going through a divorce in real life. Phil's light tenor is perfect for this sorrowful tune and really throughout the album, he delivered some of his most soulful performances captured on any album. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

The ending needs the higher pitched background refrain. Phil's prod sounds more Isaac Hayes-ish too.

Ndeed--One of my favorites from Phil--all of the emotion comes through in this song...
