M - Moonlight & Muzik~Plus Moderne Man

M, Robin Scott, better known as M, is probably one of the major one hit wonders. He's the man behind the song, Pop Muzik.

Although i was familiar with Pop Muzik and a few other songs from his New York-London-Paris-Munich album, i wasn't aware that M Robin had started off as a folk-rock singer and had been producing and recording music since the 60's.

The All Music website states that the first Adam & The Ants album was released on M Scott's own record label(Do-It) and that M Scott was also a producer of the band The Slits.

Its kinda surprising that he was involved with bands like Adam Ant, and the Slits, considering how different his Pop muzik sound is from the sounds of those bands.

Anyway the songs on his, New York-London-Paris-Munich album are pretty cool. They have this off beat Disco, Electronic, Classical, New Wave, Pop Crooner, cabaret type sound. If you like that Pop Muzik sound then The NY-L-P-M album is probably worth buying. The two songs i posted plus pop muzik are probably the best songs on the album(imo of course).

Moonlight and Muzak. From the album- New York -London-Paris-Munich(1979)

Moderne Man. From the album- New York -London-Paris-Munich(1979)

An here's one from M, Robin Scott's first album. The folk influenced, The Woman From the Warm Grass(1969).

Yep.

He should have done more mainstream disco tracks. Maybe he would have had more success. At least Pop Muzik was a big hit though.
