Name Your Favorite James Bond Song

This should be fun. I have to go with the classic.

Prolly not gonna make myself popular, but...

.

...it's Duran Duran's 'A View To A Kill'

.

I'm also partial to 'Licence To Kill'. Big Gladys Knight fan here, and I think she performed it excellently, and the song is criminally overlooked and underplayed.

The James bond series has had some pretty cool theme songs. Prince shoulda had one.

Anyway I would probably choose Adele's, Skyfall as my favorite.

In second place it would probably be Sheena Easton's, For Your Eyes Only or Jack White, Alicia Keys, Quantum Of Solace.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

I really like The Living Daylights, and Sheena Easton's For Your Eyes Only.

But I gotta go with Live and Let Die. It's the ultimate James Bond theme in my mind.

Probably "Nobody Does It Better." I'm not necessarily crazy about the Carly Simon version, I like thet live version that Radiohead did.

Looking at the Bond 50th anniversary compilation, Adele's "Skyfall" is my favorite. The rest of my top five:

You Only Live Twice - Nancy Sinatra

Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey

For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton

The Man With The Golden Gun - Lulu

I've seen all the Bond movies a Zillion times(Shout out to TBS for playing Bond movies 24/7 back-in-the-day) and I can't say 1 Theme song or "Filler space" song really stood out. I will give Adele her due propers for "Sky Fall". As I was sitting in the theatre listening to her "haunting" vocals I gained a NEW respect for her. The song deserved to win an Oscar.

I'm shocked to see "You Only Live Twice" appearing just once so far. It gets my nod. hmmm not sure of my favourite version, though.

Although "Live and and Let Die" is probably my favorite, I've always loved this one by Chrissie Hynde &The Pretenders (from "The Living Daylights" soundtrack)

There are a lot of Bond songs I've never heard, but since I've been "paying attention", my top 5 would be:

1) Duran Duran - A View to a Kill (Big fan of D2 and its just catchy and "crosses over" beyond being a Bond theme; rare distinction of being a #1 Bond theme on the charts)

2) Live & Let Die - Not too familiar with Paul's catalogue, but this song is killer

3) For Your Eyes Only - Sheena was dat deal back in the day.

4) Golden Eye - Love Tina's vocals on this

5) License to Kill - Gladys Knight - as has been stated, criminally underrated

*Honorable Mention: Die Another Day - Madge (not a big fan of hers actually, but this was a rare "up tempo" number for a Bond film. It fit the time well IMO)

Goldfinger

The world is not enough

Goldeneye

We got all the time in the world

Live and let die

A view to a kill

License to kill

For your eyes only

The living daylights

I can't remember the story behind this but Phyllis Hyman recorded the original theme song for "Never Say Never Again" but it ended up not being used in the film.

This was used instead

"Never say never again" is not an official Bond movie. But Alice Cooper recorded a song for the "The man with a golden gun", which ended up not being used:

They should have went with his version.

Identity

It's a tie: my favorite Bond movie theme songs are "Golden Eye" and "You Only Live Twice''. I'm especially fond of the lyrics Bono penned for the former.

Simply too many to pick just one as my favorite, so just a short list of my favorites.

Carly Simon- Nobody Does It Better

Sheena Easton- For Your Eyes Only

Rita Coolidge- All Time High

Paul McCartney- Live and Let Die

Duran Duran- A View To a Kill

Gladys Knight- License To Kill

Adele- Skyfall

Garbage- The World Is Not Enough

I would also like to mention a song that practically was begging to be a Bond theme song, and I think it actually was in the running but didn't make the cut.

Now It's My Turn by Berlin.
