I saw Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth live in concert last month. When they performed "They Reminisce Over You", they led into it with the original sample, and were trying to lead the crowd into THAT song, but I think I was the only one who knew the words to "Today". CL Smooth looked me right in my eyes for "STARRRRT TO CRYYY"

As many hip-hop songs as I love, this is the one I love the most. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

What you described for their perfromance of "Reminisce" is what they did for most of the concert...Pete playing the original sample before going into the song they made. So I bet that moment of saying the words to "Today" and CL catching you will always stay with you. [Edited 12/7/13 14:06pm]

Isn't that Spinderella's show? Yeah, they would do that for other songs too. You're right, I will remember that!

The first tearjerker rap song. That entire album is phenomenal. "Do you really know what love is?"

Such a pretty song, and one of the most brilliant samples in all of hip hop. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I don't know about the tearjerker part but it certainly was an instant classic. May be getting old but I miss the days when hip hop actually told a story and wasn't about what one is wearing/driving/living in or who/how many one is bangin'.
