Jerome Brailey is the best drummer in funk music. I was watching the Mothership Connection DVD from Houston 1976 and the feel and tone of his drums and playing is hard. The precursor to Michael Bland.

Listening to him play live, I noticed that he's one drummer that never rushes the beat. I used to always hear bands play live versions of their stuff, and it always seemed to be sped up , for one reason or another...but Jerome always keeps it tough, but laid back, right in the pocket.....

I feel you. "Mothership Connection" and "Gaming On Ya" are smoking HOT on the Mothership Connection DVD, and I love it when George Clinton kept telling Brailey to give him "some more foot", meaning pound the kick drum faster.

There's a YouTube clip of P-Funk getting inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and seeing Jerome's 6'5" frame next to Prince's 5'2" was startling, lol.
