Yeah, it is an interesting comparison at times. I think Fist Brown cops the extra flak because we are living in contemporary society and domestic violence and battery has an added stigma to it. Here for example there are huge campaigns on preventing violence against women, and I guess it was the manner in which he assaulted her for checking his phone and going who the hella-ella-ella-is-this, after which he hit, bit and choked her, then yes indeed he can run-it-run-it away from the car (that part is reenacted in Takers). Beat-em-down Brown also comes across as a bit unstable, punching hotel rooms and fans with equal aplomb and threatening fellow singers from behind his bodyguards. With the Pied Pisser of R&Pee, we know he's a pervert and he likes his peach fresh, but he's kind of like pedo bear, like it's just too fantastical to be real (that in no way is an attempt to diminish his criminal behavior though).

music I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world. music

But you're still listening to his music either way right? so, whether or not you ''support'' him by buying his music. You're still supporting his music by listening, or putting it on your ipoid, or burning it to your cd.

I can not agree with the artist and still experience the art. Financially supporting them though? I will not give them the money to help continue to fund whatever they are doing.

Yet, every artist is not without their sordid deeds, but the problem with R.Kelly's crimes is that it illustrates the blatant disregard for young black females in American society's eyes. Post 1993 you will have a hard time finding a Michael Jackson article that doesn't mention the molestation allegations against him and there is way less evidence linking him to those crimes. R.Kelly's evidence is as plain as day. Yet those same publications barely mention it and still praise him in spite of it.

This isn't to say that I am oblivious to the sexual abuse that R.Kelly went through in his younger years. It's horrible and a never ending cycle unless you realize that you need to do something about it.
