Björk - did she came to hate 1 of her biggest hits: "It's Oh So Quiet"?

...since her famous hit song "It's Oh So Quiet" is missing from her 2002 "Greatest Hits" compilation. question

Yeah.... I know there was a fan survey going on - on her website I guess,

still I find it very hard to believe no one voted for this great (cover) song - after all it's one of her biggest hits - therefor a pitty this beauty of a song is missing, on the 72 minutes long CD.

Something must have gone wrong in that survey!?

Maybe Björk dislikes the song herself.. or maybe it was missing because like said before: it's a cover song, not written by herself. Or maybe the decission is taken by her record company, for unknown reasons?

In case someone know the "real" reason.. please tell, isn't it cheating to have a survey and not release one of her most famous songs on the cd?

Yeah I know, I don't trust that result, it just can't be true no one voted this song to be on the cd...

Björk Greatest Hits (2002)...

01 All is Full of Love
02 Hyperballad
03 Human Behaviour
04 Joga
05 Bachelorette
06 Army of Me
07 Pagan Poetry
08 Big Time Sensuality
09 Venus As a Boy
10 Hunter
11 Hidden Place
12 Isobel
13 Possibly Maybe
14 Play Dead
15 It's in Our Hands

^ Bloody fantastic cd, I have been listening to this, the whole day. music heart

Violently Happy is such a good song! the song and video are classic 90's Bjork. As for It's Oh So Quiet... hmmm maybe it is cause it's a cover? and they wanted only original songs. That is one of her bigger hits so that's odd.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

Heard this version somewhere and had to buy the soundtrack with Lucy who by the way Is very talented on her on right, then I did research and found out Bjork did it and bought her version as well on SACD(5.1 sorround). I've liked Bjork back when she was in The Sugercubes.

To be fair it is her worst single. Just like R.E.M didn't include Shiny Happy People on their Greatest Hits. smile

Well it's not representative of her work at all, it was kind of a novelty single. I'm not surprised that she dislikes it.

Like others said, "Violently Happy" is a bigger omission from Greatest Hits, but also "Alarm Call" to me... sad

Well I think if you are a Bjork fan "Quiet" isnt one of your favorites. If you are a casual fan then you probably really like it. I mean really its nothing like any of her other music.

Whenever these truncated compilations are released, I make my own that includes every single and listen to those instead. My Björk Singles collection has 35 songs from "Human Behaviour" to "Moon". It's fun hunting down the single edits.

Right: smile

I have made my own "Björk - Best Of".. collection as well (running: 89:39)..

01-All Is Full Of Love (Remix version from the musicvideo)

02-Earth Intruders (4:37 edit, the instrumental end shortened)
03-Hyperballad
04-Human Behaviour
05-It’s Oh So Quiet
06-Jóga
07-Bachelorette
08-Army Of Me
09-Pagan Poetry
10-Big Time Sensuality (Remix version from the video)
11-Venus As A Boy
12-Hunter
13-Violently Happy
14-Innocence (4:06 edit, instrumental end shortened)
15-Hidden Place
16-Isobel
17-Possibly Maybe
18-Triumph Of A Heart
19-Play Dead

^ this fits a 90 minutes CD,

Out went the track "It's In Our Hands" (the last - and at the time new - track from the offial compilation), and not room for "I Miss You" either - on the 90 min CD.

Hi sexton,

you have seen mine,

May I see yours??

I would love to see your Björk collection from Human Behaviour cronologic to the most recent single (gotta be that song Moon?).

There might be some songs I am not familiar with.

I took a screenshot of my comp from iTunes:

The only single edit I couldn't find in decent quality was "Crystalline". One day...

I am not sure I know some of the remixes, either.

But thanks and it's appriciated to see this list.. maybe I will later catch up on these,

to check them on iTunes.. biggrin

After posting, I went to discogs.com to see if I missed any singles and there indeed was a promo release for "I've Seen It All" from Dancer In The Dark/Selmasongs. I will add that one to my comp later.
