Nelson Mandela’s Tribute To Michael

nelson-and-mj

Nelson Mandela’s death has brought with it many memories, one of which is the tribute that great man made to Michael via a letter at his memorial service, describing him as “part of Our Family”.

The former South African president also paid tribute to how Michael had managed to “triumph over tragedy on some many occasions in his life”.

Mandela’s comments about Michael were read out at his public memorial service in Los Angeles by Smokey Robinson.

You can read the full letter below:

Dear Jackson family,

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the untimely death of Michael Jackson. Michael became close to us after he started visiting and performing in South Africa regularly.

We became fond of him and he became a close member of our family.

We had great admiration for his talent and that he was able to triumph over tragedy on some many occasion in his life.

Michael was a giant and a legend in the music industry and we mourn with the millions of fans worldwide. We also mourn with his family and his friends over the loss of a dear friend. He will be missed and memories cherished of him for a long time.

Be strong,
Nelson Mandela

This is the first time I saw this interview. But it is the most powerfull interview showing MJs innocence not just in the case that he won, but also in the Chandler affair. I wish MJ had Tom Mesereau back in 1993.

Er..MJ is deceased, sadly most things pertaining to him is "old news". Maybe m22 just saw "Scary Movie 3" for the first time and wanted to vent. No big deal either way.

Kinda sad that there are less and less posts on here... But that's the way I thought it would end up. It's an inevitable situation I suppose...

Well. There is not much "new" stuff to talk about. And there is only so many times you can go over the old topics. But less posts doesn't meanthat he is getting forgotten. It just means that there is nothing to talk about. And a sticky, where everythig is lumped together, sucks anyway.

Well the latest news seems to be on the sensational front. The former Dr. Murray is creating quite a storm in Englans and Australia, which has not gotten much traction in the US. Also Debbie Rowe's response. The truth is I think most people just want to enjoy MJ's music and talent now..Enough of all the rest of it.

The Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour is ranked as one of the best tours of all time and is still going strong as we speak. The MJ One Show in Las Vegas is constantly sold out on a daily. So the assumption that MJ is not being talked about is not quite accurate. He was acknowledge as the most paid entertainer this year and there are alot more positive things being said about him overall. Like the poster said above, I think people are more interested in his music and talent. There is a new album in the works for next year as well as a documentary about his "last photo shoots" which I am excited about so the slow posts won't be for to long.

I agree. I just came here to post about "The Immortal World Tour". It's doing very well. 2nd highest grossing tour of the year.

http://www.billboard.com/articles/list/5820092/top-25-tours-of-2013

Obviously people are still interested in MJ and his music. That's not going anywhere anytime soon. I always hear his songs on the radio. I constantly read about other artists of today who look up to him. There are projects in the works. The "Immortal World Tour" will be touring the US once again next year in a few cities. "One" show in Vegas has been getting rave reviews and as far as I know it is doing well.

You guys are right tho. Most are over talking about all the scandals. The thing with this site is that this MJ sticky has been here for over 4 years now. People hardly post in sticky's. Especially not one that has been going for 4 years now. It's not just MJ. Look at Lady Gaga's sticky. Hardly any posts in there for an artist that is newer and has had a lot of success over the last couple years.

Actually this section of the site is much slower than it used to be. I remember when this place was really active. It doesn't seem as active as it once was so it's not surprising that this MJ sticky isn't too active.

But I get the reason for the MJ sticky. This is a Prince site afterall. They don't want MJ topics flooding the forum which was the case in the past so it's understandable but it's not an indication of waning interest in Michael in general. His album sales and tribute tours prove this (among othe reasons) MJ's legacy will continue to live on for many years to come.

"Invincible" contains some of MJ's best ballads ever. Actually I think that album had some of the best ballads he did in years. Very well crafted r&b songs on there. I think some of those songs on that album were geared towards fans of his r&b/soul sound. "Heaven Can Wait", "Break of Dawn" and "Butterflies" are excellent songs and so beautifully sung by MJ.

[Edited 12/7/13 19:50pm]

very true

songs 4-7 (Break of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait, Butterflies, and You Rock My World) were the album's centerpiece

Break of Dawn is one of the greatest vocal performances he ever did

should have been released as a single, it had #1 written all over it

Agree!

Break of Dawn is one of the best songs he ever did. It is VERY underrated. I think it is such a sexy song lol Although they were never singles, the urban stations would play Break of Dawn and Heaven Can Wait.

Mike J died in 2009 sadning The World. The biggest Entertainment event in 10 years. But I want to know what killed him. Was it just a bad heart? Was it his doctor mistakingy giving him too much medicine? Was Doctor Murray trying to kill him. Or was it even some high up moguls in The Music Industry conspiring to kill Michael? Some people even think it was pseudocide meaning not suicide but he faked his own death to save himself and to get out The E Industry.

Working up a purple sweat.

It appears to me this entire SITE is a lot less active than it used to be! sigh Not just this section.

.

.

Edit: Maybe people stopped posting on the org because it's so hard to write or edit a post these days!? I don't think I'm the only one having problems with that.
