Twenty years ago, the new album would have followed the single in about 3 weeks. I heard that Jam & Lewis were on it, but don't know if this has since changed. LOVE the Khan/Flyte Tyme collaborations! Should have happened years ago!

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

ZERO! No, she has not mentioned anything about the album lately. The last interview I saw from her a couple of months ago, she said she would be releasing some more singles. Still waiting!bored2 And absolutely no word on why the album is being delayed. We've made our feelings known over on her board about the non-communication, especially after she promised a July release date and still no response from anyone in her camp.

I know there can be any number of reasons why an album is delayed. I kinda get the feeling one of the main reasons is money. In March, she mentioned in Billboard magazine the album was ready to go but she didn't have a distribution deal. I don't think it's she can't get one. It's she can't get the one she wants. It's really hard for veteran R&B acts to sell a decent number of units today with people downloading entire albums on youtube and all. I believe she's holding out for a lucrative distribution deal. So, if that's what the delay is all about, I can't blame her. Meanwhile, her Jazz album was supposed to have been on the shelves by now also and no word about that neither. She was working with Blue Note Records on that one, which is also the same label Anita Baker's album was supposed to be released on over a year and a half ago and we're still waiting on that sucker, too! mad

Anyhow, you can catch C.K. performing on the Soul Train Awards, which starts airing this weekend.

UPDATE: Chaka posted a message on her board today saying she has been reading our concerns. She is back in the studio because they have shifted focus for the "I-Khan" album (hopefully, this means no remakes) and because she has been touring so much, it's been difficult to be in the studio as much as she should be. She's promising lots of exciting things for 2014. So, we'll see.biggrin

I hope the jazz album gets released. It's weird that Anita's album still has not been released, either. The first single came out last year and I assume it was well-received.

Wasn't Anita's single nominated for a Grammy? I don't know what's going on with her. Her album was originally announced for a 2012 release. 2013 is almost gone and still no word on Anita's album.

it's such a shame that the Burgundy Records label shut down.It was a label designed for old school artists to release new music.Great concept, but I guess the (mostly) poor sales weren't enough to sustain the label.

this is one of the reasons why Donna Summer didn't release alot of albums during the past decade or so.She could have easily done the "independent" thing. Her own husband had his own independent label.Donna wanted the 'diva' treatment. She wanted a big label with big bucks to promote and market her music, which is probably what Chaka is looking for, too.Noithing wrong with that at all. They paid their dues and they deserve that kind of treatment lol I just hope Chaka can find that.

Chaka Khan reveals she was in drug rehab with Lindsay Lohan

Fri., Aug. 9, 2013 9:16 AM EST
by Nicholas Robinson

Since being released from drug rehab almost two weeks ago, Lindsay Lohan has received an outpouring of support from fans and celebs alike, including Oprah Winfrey, as they wish her the best in staying sober. However, Lohan recently got a surprising vote of confidence from one of the most unlikely sources in the world – soul singer Chaka Khan.

According to RadarOnline, Khan released a statement on her website on Wednesday revealing that she was in the same drug rehab that Lohan was in, receiving treatment for an addiction to prescription drugs.

Chaka & Lindsay Tweet Each Other

In the statement, Khan commended Lohan for seeking treatment for her drug addiction and wished her the best in remaining sober.

"I applaud Lindsay Lohan for doing the work. She is a lovely young lady and I pray for her well-being,”

Khan, who’s suffered from drug addiction in the past, opened up about her own recent battle with drugs, saying that she relapsed after having surgery.

“The battle of addiction is a serious and long process, which is why I chose to address my use of prescription medications—which came about as a result of the knee surgery I had a few years ago. When and if necessary, I will seek alternative methods and traditional treatment to stay ahead of any potential problem,” wrote Khan.

The soul singer added, “So many are not here today, and have lost this battle with addiction. Because these medications are legal, their abuse is often unknown—until it’s too late. If not handled they are a silent killer.”

We applaud Khan for being so open about her battle with drugs and we hope both she and Lohan remain sober and help others to fight their battles with drugs as well. Check out some other celebs that have battled drug addictions below. – nicholas robinson

C.K. has invited a few of her select peeps to an online chat with her in a couple of weeks. If she reveals any updated info on the CDs, I'll let you all know. Apparently, she has a lot more stuff coming down the pike for 2014 but I don't want to get anyone all excited until I get some more specific details.

I'm glad that she is actively working on the drug problem and that the album isn't out of the loop yet. Thanks for the info, SoulAlive, and please do keep us posted on album news, Kit B.

Chaka Khan To Record Two New Albums In 2013

Chaka Khan To Record Two New Albums In 2013
10/15/2012 3:46 PM ET

Chaka Khan is marking the 40th anniversary of her break into the musicbusiness by heading back into the studio to record not one, but two new albums.

The R&B singer will reportedly lay down vocals for a gospel and a jazz album due out in 2013. "Being in the studio makes me very happy," Chaka said in a statement. "I am so excited about the new music and the direction on this project."

First, she'll have to wrap up her current tour of Europe, which is set to end in late 2012. The 59-year-old singer said that she is really enjoying being out on tour performing for her fans:

"We are having a super great time on tour and the opportunity to connect with my fans is one of the greatest gifts ever."

Khan says that once the two new albums are complete, fans can expect to see her on the road once again in 2013.

Have you noticed that, when an artist announces that they are working on multiple albums,we never actually get those albums at all? lol I think it's easy to plan something like that, but harder to get it released.Stevie Wonder recently said that he's working on three new albums, but I bet we will only see one of those albums.....and probably not anytime soon!

We received an email on Monday saying the chat had been postponed because she had a chest cold and she had to be able to perform a show on Thursday night so she was trying to treat the cold and not use her voice much until Thursday.

Yes, some people had been reporting a problem with a virus earlier in the week when accessing her website. I'm sure it's being addressed.

As far as Chaka promising multiple albums, she's done that multiple times over the years. In the 90's, she promised Christmas albums, Jazz albums, Rock albums, a Rufus album (in 2001). None of it has ever come to pass. I think she has good intentions but often times, labels just don't want to invest that kind of bread on a veteran female singer, especially if it's an R&B singer. I'll just be happy if "I-Khan" gets released next year. If we get a jazz album too, that will just be frosting on the cake! But, with Chaka, I've learned not to get excited over promises until I actually see the product on the shelves.

If we can get a new album along with some proper long over-due deluxe remasters of her solo albums, I'll be happy. I doubt if there will be any proper Rufus reissues in the near future because those masters belong to Universal and we all know how difficult they have been with FTG and BBR.
