I'd say it's a tie. Both versions, are good....

lol lol lol

Vanessa's version is quite good and one of her best efforts on record. OTOH, the Isleys version is a classic.

You should give it a listen. A die-hard Isleys fan (I'm one too) should appreciate a good cover! lol

It also has Dres of Black Sheep, one of the most distinctive rappers IMO.

You're not gonna listen to Vanessa's version? You didnt hear it when it was a big Hit on Black radio & BET back in the 90's?

Actually, I had never even heard of this song until Vanessa recorded it. Although I like both versions, Vanessa wins this one for me. There are some cool remixes of her song, also.

You never heard of it until Nessa recorded it? Kit your local R&B radio NEVER played Isley Classics in the 90's? You do realize the Video for the song followed the video release for "Save The Best for Last"....You NEVER saw Nessa's "Work to do" video on BET or Video Soul back in the day?

Nope. We didn't have that particular Isley Brothers album and I never heard the Isley's song on the radio until after Vanessa covered it.

Well, you should get it if you don't have it now. Brother, Brother, Brother is a great album and the true beginning of the glorious 3+3 era.

Yes, I not too long ago acquired a CD box set that includes 5 of their 70's albums that includes the one you mentioned above.

Ok! Ok! I've listened to it. It's good, love the dancing and she is very good I've always admired her from the very start as Miss America,

BUT: The Isleys WIN IT! (and they play their own music too!)
