Apparently Simple Minds are inspired by Prince (still)

Just got an update from Jim Kerr (lead singer from Simple Minds ) - it reads :

Thanks to Martin Hanlin for letting me explain the inspiration behind our new song BIG MUSIC. Some had been asking if there was a connection to Mike Scott's song of the same name? Uh...no! The song was written directly after seeing Prince in Switzerland last July. JK

Listen to Jim discuss BIG MUSIC when he guested on KX935.com. Download here:http://www.kx935.com/podc....2013.1200

kinda interesting !? wink

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Good taste!

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

for those interested, the Prince part is about 9 mins and 30 secs or so into the interview and to be clear, the song was birthed out of frustration from seeing Prince, not inspiration. He was disappointed with the jams and groove style of the band and wanted to hear more structure, less obscure songs. "gimme the jams..."

I have been a fan of Simple Minds since before their big hits here in the US ...

but i remember seeing them ... around 1988 or so ... and jim kerr is a "different" guy on stage ... he kinda reminds me of a guy with only 2 pickup lines ...

i watched a youtube of a concert recently ... and he constantly says "let me see your hands" ... and to me it is just obnoxious ... i would be like "dont try to hitler-ize me " with what i wanna do at a concert !

that being said ... i bet he is a cool guy ...

i am kinda saddened if he was critical ... cus to me that is what is fun about going to a Prince show ... you get some jams and every time i have seen Prince - he has surprised me ... usually it is with a song that "i wouldnt have picked" as one that I wanted to hear ... but ... Prince makes it FINE so I wanna hear it again and again ...

I think of "one night alone tour " with "Strange relationship" ... or 2004 tour with "sign of the times" ... re-worked but ... cool LIVE ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.
