I kinda figured this would happen with her. People were saying she is the ''madonna'' of this generation.

But, and this has nothing to do with music. Numbers wise Rihanna is the modern Madonna and GaGa is more along the lines of... lets say Prince. Now calm your tits before they lactate i am not saying she is talented as Prince.

But i mean in the sense that Prince had a HUGE album with Purple Rain, a pretty good sized hit album with Around The World In A Day, And then his most experimental at the time Parade didn't sell a lot.

GaGa was insanely huge with The Fame Monster... but even by Born This Way i could tell she was losing some ground mainstream wise.

I think for the next few years she will still have hits here and there for sure. But i don't think she will ever have a big selling album again.

I feel like she'll have one more number one hit before her career ends

So wait -- boring, over the hill Madonna sold 359,000 her first week and people are still comparing her to Gaga??

How, when 25 years or so later into her career than gaga she still sells more?

So much fail -_-

oh and just cuz its the .org: "she's old, she has crazy ugly arms" etc etc.,

Are we looking at the same org?

I thought people on here loved her?

And it's no secret Madonna has a devoted fanbase. Also no secret Gaga wants to be her, to her detriment.

People are going to learn about getting caught up in that numbers and media game. I managed to stay away from much of it and I find that the album is really good. Far better than Born This Way that's for sure. I think I'm finally ready to see her perform live if she hits my town.

It's appropriate that a fraud like Gaga is working with a fraud like Jeff Koons. Two shallow hucksters making a fortune off of a gullible audience. Glad to see the public's seeing through her now, but they're 5 years too late.

I have a lot of respect for Madonna as a businesswoman, and for her early music. She is kinda schooling Gaga right now.

Her self important antics have turned off the public. Deservingly so.

there's always irony and self-mockery in the way she promotes herself, her music and her "art"

Her days of huge hits like Bad Romance and Pokerface are gone, she peaked a while ago. She's still my girl though. I think Do what u want has potential to be a big hit for her. She'll be okay, she just has to figure out how to not fizzle out altogther.

looking at the first picture am I the only one who hated the album's cover? it seemed a total mess to me. confused .about the music I saw the album received a lot of mixed review by critics. mostly mixed reviews actually..and it wasn't what I was expecting to be honest she was talking a lot about this album like this big project..and it didn't reflect that at all imo..

Yeah. I mean all careers end eventually and I feel like she'll have 1 more massive hit before she kicks the bucket.

Interesting, because I feel like out of all the big name pop stars of the last few years, she's the only one that will likely have an enduring music career.

.

We got Bieber, Rihanna, Britney, Katy Perry, all of whom I doubt have the ability to completely reinvent themselves, especially the first 3 as they come across as complete puppets to stylists, producers and songwriters. Katy Perry could possibly do it as she seems to lead her career, rather than be lead.

.

Gaga may be in a bit of a rut, but she's obviously extremely driven, ambitious, intelligent and creative, so I think she'll figure out how to reinvent herself, as Madonna became a master at doing. Most importantly, she is the key person involved in her own music.

True, she's been around a while. But when the looks fade in the next 5-10 years, will she still have a music career?

Rihanna can't reinvent, but her producers have consistently been reinventing her since she first came out. Bieber's falling drastically and Katy's running out of ideas. I think Gaga can reinvent herself but as for it being what the top 40 market wants...I don't know.
