BIGGEST SNUBB OF THE GRAMMYS THIS YEAR

The Electric Lady by Janelle Monàe: Probably the best R&B album this year, one of the top 5 of all - Q.U.E.E.N. featuring Badu has one of the best music videos this year as critics & fans admit not to mention the song is a GOAT - PrimeTime with Miguel is one of the hottest R&B collabos this year - the album is her first shot comercially-speaking - The album has Prince in it.

ALL THIS: 0 Nominations.

I always wondered....what's the difference between "record of the year" and "song of the year"? confuse why do they need both categories?

Record of the year goes to the mixers/producers and the artist that has the record. Your record has to be successfull, appealing & famous so it can be nominated. As you notice, the nominees this year are all number one songs except Radioactive that went for top 3 I guess..

Song of the year goes to the composers/writers of the song, you don't have to write a famous hit to get a chance in this category, just a nice song with nice lyrics. Tho it's kind of paradox this year, since the nominees for this category are all top ten hits!!!

Yeah and what makes me even crazier is when you google "2014 grammys biggest snubs" all you see is whining over JT & Gaga not being in the categories and forgetting about JANELLE MONAE!

What the fuck! People should look into this matter and make a statement. I don't wanna sound like a douchebag but are they doing this because Janelle is a black woman who sings about discrimination, race, feminism and shit like that? Or because she doesn't sing about cocks & she doesn't dance super half naked on stage?

This is not normal.

But man, Katy is, like, 30 or so, doesn't she have to sing about fail suicidal attempts, love problems and grown shit? Roar goes like "I have the eye of the tiger the fire, dancing like the fire cuz I'am a champion and you gonna hear me ROAAAR"

No, the deadline was September 30, Electric Lady came out WAY before that... they just don't wanna nominate her!

I hope Kendrick sweeps the rap category and Jay Z goes home with nothing! The academy sucks his ass so much, he won like 5 last year, and he also leaded the nods last year.

Another funny thang: Kanye with only 2 nods lol lol lol lol

both sadly but in this case more for the first one..this album was way more political than the archandroid that's why she was snobbed this time imo she is pro black people a lot in this album and you know that grammy doesn't like that..really aren't they talking in the media about her being snubbed? the people on twitter were really MAD for her being snubbed...

And J Cole didn't get much love, but it's OK. One day he'll rule over things like this. I predict he's only a few albums away from a mainstream classic, possibly even one away.

Gaga didnt do anything to warrant a nomination, her album was just released, and the cut off was for October 1st.

Pretty much not feeling much on the nominations this year, no real opinion to offer except who gives a rats ass because it doesnt do anything for the artist anymore or honestly people dont care anymore like that, these shows are pretty much snooze fests, HYPEd a month before the show then night of the show its all a big letdown, etc...same shit different year.

but AT LEAST in the urban category..I'm MAD for her for this..she didn't deserve this treatment..SMH..I won't watch this year for sure..not interested in their lame show..I still remember what they did to her with the archandroid. That time they couldn't ignore the album because it was considered by many critics one of the 3 best album of 2010 ( the others were the suburbs by arcade fire and my beautiful dark twisted fantasy by kanye west) so they gave her a contemporary R&B nomination because they didn't want to nominate her in album of the year where at least they gave the award to arcade fire but where they nominated lame albums like taylor swift, katy perry but not the archandroid ..and they did the same to my beautiful dark twisted fantasy the next year( kanye's album came out after the deadline)..but at least kanye won in rap album..in janelle's case they made her lose to usher raymond vs raymond.. one of the lamest albums out..if that wasn't ALREADY a big SNUB...

this time around she had an album out that was a little less celebrated by critics than the archandroid but still considered one of the strongest releases of the year the strongest in R&B for sure..with like 83/100 on metacritic and present in a lot of best albums of the year lists by music magazines and music sites..( where on the other hand no critics ever considered the persons that the grammy decided to nominate)..

and so what they did this time around? they ignored her completely!

Considering how KL has become the "cool rap artist" these past two years and his album being critically acclaimed by just about everyone, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with it. Especially looking at his competition. It's been awhile (probably since OutKast "Speakerboxx/Love Below") since they've voted for a rap album for AOTY. Kanye could have won it easily with "MBDTF" I think if he didn't cancel himself out with his collaboration with his "big brother" Shawn. I guess he didn't read the Grammy rules that says, anything released by Jay Z must be nominated for multiple awards. No Exceptions.

.

I think Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' song "Same Love" is probably going to win Best Song. Pink & that other cat are it's only comp.

I just reviewed the entire list of nominees. As always, some get the recognition they deserve, while others leave you scratching your head, huh? And then after remembering that certain artist are nominated because they're more "popular", then you quickly get over how integrity was lost a long time ago....

.

Random thoughts:

.

Taylor Swift, really? AOTY what a wasted slot among many.

.

Why does Lorde look older than Kate Bush in those pics? Isn't she supposed to be a teenager?

.

Congrats to Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk, and all the others worthy of nominations.

.

Too bad we didn't get "The Battle of VA" between Timbaland & Pharrell for Producer of the Year. Looks like Pharrell was just more busy. Tim invested all that time into duplicating past success.

.

Haven't the Grammys gotten the memo that Rihanna hadn't been a "Urban" artist since "Pon De Replay"?

.

Alicia Keys? This girl needs inspiration bad and you reward her with an R&B Album of the Year?

.

Call me crazy but I don't think Ye deserves any nods this go 'round. Sorry. (don't encourage him class)

.

Was Snoop's reggae joint really good? Just asking because I didn't hear it. I didn't take it seriously.

.

Shout out to Ravi Shankar who's still gettin it from the grave.

.

I could have sworn Adele's "Skyfall" was nominated last year under this same category.

.

Last but certainly not least: Now I see how Jay Z ended up with 9 freakin nominations:

.

"Picasso Baby" Really? Best Video? The B.S. factor was off the meter with this one. Wonder how much they were paid to sing his praises like that?

.

Best Recording Package?

.

Suit & Tie does not deserve to be nominated for Best Music Video. That about it.

Yes it's mad slow @ work. lol

I dunno why JT is nominated for Music Video? He isn't the director, or editor!!!!! David Fincher should be the one nominated! And it's a very regular video! I don't get what's special about it.

Timbaland thought its 2006 so he went with his dated / boring beats and caused poor JT a lack of a major categories nomination!

Jay Z is so overrated and there are many rappers deserve his shots!

As for Adele, this is her Grammy schedule:

2012: Best Pop Solo Performance: Someone like you

2013: best pop solo performance: set fire to the rain (live at the royal albert hall)

2014: best pop solo performance: skyfall

2015: .......................................: skyfall (live in the studio)

2016:.........................................: skyfall (live in her living room)

she wins everything!
