Anyone Else Listened To The Jesus Loves You Album Martyrs?

Man, i recently discovered this album and what a gem!

I also thought of Boy George as a wasted talent until i heard this disc. Man the writing, the music, the sounds etc. Everything is perfect! this album is better than all 4 Culture Club albums combined.

The world music mixes create some really great songs and subject matters. Boy talks about everything from poverty to drugs to religion (His Hare-Krishna phase), to A.I.D.S, to gay rights etc.

It's a pretty deep album and i love every track! this combined with Pet Shop Boys produced The Cryin Game a couple years later is imo his best work to date.

His other solo stuff has left me just feelin meh. It's too bad he never made another album this good again.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

i was never a fan of boy george or culture club but i liked some of the stuff on this album which was very different to what he did before. bow down mister was a great tune as was generatsions of love and everything starts with an e

i listened to his new album btw but his voice has changed and is very deep. mark ronson produced some of it at least but it didn't have any outstanding tracks. it wasn't bad but never grabbed me

yes, fantastic album, played it a lot when it was released. "Specialise in loneliness" will always be one of my favourite tracks ever.

I really like the early 90's house vibes.

I agree with you about his new album and about how his voice has changed. But Mark Ronson has no involvement in it. It is produced by some unknown guy in George's band. The song Mark Ronson did for him a couple of years ago Somebody to Love Me is much better than anything on the new album. The new album has an old MOR boring sound, whereas the song with Mark Ronson had more of a cool modern sound. It would have been a lot better if he had worked with Mark.
