Alanis Morissette's JAGGED LITTLE PILL Will Be Turned Into Broadway Musical

Many can easily recite lyrics from Alanis Morissette's iconic album Jagged Little Pill, which is the best-selling debut release by a female artist in the U.S.

And now, the 39-year-old singer's 1995 hit - which sold over 33 million copies worldwide - will be made into a Broadway musical that will debut in 2014.

'I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism,' Morissette said in a press statement of the workshop production.

'I look forward to collaborating with Vivek and Tom and our whole inspiring team to create something greater than the sum of our parts.'

'So excited. let the games begin. ' she added on Twitter.

The play will feature the full track list from the Canadian crooner's third studio album - which includes tunes such as Ironic and You Oughta Know - as well as other popular songs and even some new ones.

Jagged Little Pill - which is based off the highest-selling debut album worldwide in music history - will be produced by Vivek J. Tiwary and Arvind Ethan David, as the orchestrations and arrangements will be provided by Tom Kitt, who worked on Green Day's American Idiot musical.

'Jagged Little Pill was a triumph of self-expression - an album that was impossible to ignore with its massive sound and raw honesty,' Tiwary said.

'I'm proud to be working with Alanis to bring that same emotional power and bravery onto a Broadway stage.

'We need more Broadway musicals with a serious, relatable emotional core and strong female voices. So we're looking forward to honoring the Jagged Little Pill legacy - while is still surprising fans with some unexpected twists.'

'Alanis' songs have always uniquely combined narrative clarity with dramatic power - bringing them to the Broadway stage feels like bringing them home,' David chimed in.

At age 21, Morissette won a Grammy for Album Of The Year for her Jagged Little Pill, turning her into the youngest artist in history to win for that category.

if Prince was smart,he would allow them to turn 'Purple Rain' into a Broadway musical. It's a good way of keeping that music alive and I know it would be a huge success. That can be very lucrative for Prince.

I wonder how actor, Dave Coullier,(Joey for the show, "Full House" and the person who inspired this album) feels about this? It would be very interesting to find out.

It was NOT a debut album...not in Canada!!! I wonder if she`ll perform the ballad of Too Hot at the end :p

Full House is coming back too focusing on DJ and Stephanie with guest appearances from the others....Joey should go to the show as part of the episode :p

I also agree Prince and his arrogant little butt needs to do something with Purple Rain for the 30th anniversary, a musical sounds perfect. I haven`t looked back since I went to his tour in 2011 which was good, but he`s musically done to me now, I don`t care for future releases.

Although, I think Prince is pretty enterprising, I agree Purple Rain would be a incredible success, as well as, keep him in the for front of people's mind and very well supported. I still love "Billboards" with The Joffrey Ballet...it remains on a year's waiting list at the library and I still can't find it anywhere. SoulAlive I think your idea...is a rich idea, pregnant with possibilities and exciting to think about!

Was it good 4 U?
Was I what U wanted me 2 B?

If it's not alright...it will B
