Man, talk about arrangement-- isn't it wrong for one 18-year old kid to be this talented? LOL!!

omg If this kid can compose original music on this level then everyone better watch out. When you hear music like this, it makes you realize how dumbed down and simplified most mainstream and indie music has become. We need a new progressive soul, rock, and pop sound to be introduced into mainstream music.

I'm workin' at my jobba, as Prince would say, so I can't listen to it now. I'll do it soon, it seems interesting.

Excellent. You really want to pull for someone like this.

Unfortunately there's a tendency to think he's doomed for failure...

~ No bar room brawls?
~ No outrageous shock value statements to the press?
~ No multi-page arrest record?
~ No herd of baby-mamas?
~ No outrageous hairdo or wardrobe (w/multiple malfunctions)?
~ No tax problems or bill collector issues?

...All he's got is musical talent going for him?

I don't know bro. Doesn't look good. disbelief

Well, maybe he'll luck up, and fall in with the "wrong crowd" ...ne'er do wells and troublemakers like Pat Metheny, Snarky Puppy, Robert Glasper, James Rose, Dirty Loops, Knower, Hiatus Kaiyote, etc...

Hmm, he seems to be working more with "layers" of sound rather than by creating "proper arrangements" by this point. Still very, very talented. I think that when Prince was younger and experimented with the recording equipment of the time he came up with somewhat similar results (before he started to focus more on songwriting).

I'm kind of undecided on whether or not "youtube stardom" really is the way to go. In some sense, at least it allows more exposure for your stuff than coming up with a CD that sells maybe 300-500 copies in these genres, but at the same time it tends to triviliaze the artistic content for the sake of simply catching people's attention.

Good point.

Über talented self-indulgent super creeps. A very unsavory crew indeed. rolleyes

Maybe if this crew would throw in a few...

~ Drug busts.
~ B&E convictions.
~ Kidnappings.
~ Bank robberies

...You know, become more visible. Up their edgey quotient a few notches.

Nice! Jacob is very talented. If he were born 60 years ago in the Album Age, he has the skills that pave a path to the R/R Hall Of Fame. Instead, like many other modern wunderkinds, his talent may be relegated to Youtube.

.

Does anyone sell a million CD's anymore? I think to myself.....
