One of the best and most versatile vocalists of the last 30 years. Nobody can convey a sense of drama like Annie... or a sense of dread, or sadness, or love and devotion... her voice is so incredibly expressive.
She also has an experimental side, especially w/ Eurythmics, that I love. * * *

Annie's probably my favorite female singer. She has soul, but doesn't use ridiculous histronics and melismas to convey it. I saw a video of her just singing and playing the piano and it was one of the most heartfelt and incredible performances I've ever seen. I know she's not exactly relevant these days but I'd love to see her put out just a solo vocal/piano record. | |
