I just love the way he speaks. I can listen to him all day if I wanted to. Still keeping the dreads intact at 51 I see.

interesting read. glad i pressed passed the initial Zooathalon stuff Didn't know he and MJ were beefed out like that. Wonder how true all of that is, sometimes perception can distort reality. he's quite the character. Donny Osmond, really? I just may dig for something post Wild Card

Sounds like he's saying he would have liked friendly competition without any losers I loved wishing well so much when I was 5

That's the part where he lost me. I was mmhmm when he discussed how MJ possibly sabotage his shit but then when he got to this, I made a Scooby Doo sound...

Oh I got it. Easy. Basically saying "they" do not want two powerful / talented black men working together in any shape or form. They are easier to control if they re divided. Duuuuuh

I know but on that part, I was like "OK, I think I know what you're trying to say but WHAT are you saying?"

Lol and I thought Prince was bad, at times. Booked on phonics-sounding mofo.

My man, Terence (Spoken like Denzel in American Gangster). I know, I know his name is Sananda now but his momma named him Terence so, I'mma call him Terence. - Good to see a new article on him. His absence from the American musical landscape his sorely missing. True, there's this thing called the internet but I believe he purposely avoided promoting his new stuff in the States like the plague. Even the article is from Huffington Post Canada. -

What about Cassius Clay Jr., Richard Starkey, Marion Morrison, Jerome Horwitz, Michael King, Sigmund Jackson, Archibald Leach, David Jones (Bowie), Margarita Cansino, Daryl Hohl, Stevland Judkins (Hardaway/Morris), Anna Mae Bullock, Laurence Tureaud, Peter Thorkelson, Norma Mortenson, John Bongiovi, most rappers, and many others who either legally changed their names or use stage names? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I feel ya....but I was just joking Referencing Eddie Murphy's late 80's hit movie, "Coming to America." - But since you went there, Stevie's original last name always left me wondering. Was it originally Judkins not Hardaway or Morris? Maybe you can help jog my memory.

I'm sorry but you know how I jump in to conversations. But it's stated his birth name is Stevland (or Steveland?) Judkins. His biological father, someone he was not close to at all, had that last name (I think his name was Calvin Judkins). Lula Mae renamed him Stevland/Steveland Morris. "Morris" was a family friend's last name but I don't know if it's his legal name or not. It might be since all of his children acquire the Morris last name.

Hardaway was his mother maiden name right? Lula Mae Hardaway... Still waitin on that tribute record dedicated to his mom, "The Gosepel According to Lula Mae"... Don't worry, I'm not holding my breath. I know very well how Stevie is.

I sometimes wonder if he really is that full of shit or if he's just amusing himself in these interviews/newsletters - and it's kind of a little in-joke that only he's in on. Or maybe it's kind of a mask to avoid giving away too much personal info about himself - I don't know. The frustrating thing is, I would actually be interested in what he has to say about making music and how he runs his career these days, etc, but I find it too tiring to wade through all this florid rambling, trying to find the point! Yep that was her (and from what I can tell after divorcing Stevie's dad, remained) maiden name. As for the album, I know Stevie took advice from Marvin about not releasing an album every five years but this shit is fucking ridiculous!

Dude said a whole lot about nothing. I'm with babynoz when he believes his pretense makes him sound deep. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Yeah I saw a quote from Rob saying they were better than the Beatles, Dylan and, I believe, the Beach Boys. I almost had to rub my eyes twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things in my imagination! Who told him to say that? Frank Farian!? Jesus lol [Edited 10/7/13 18:41pm]

This was my favourite part: He (MJ) was truly, though a part of a tradition, one of a kind, and never to be seen again. And neither do we deserve to see his kind again.I wish Sananda would one day start collaborating with other musicians again. His guitar, bass and drum playing don't do justice to his great vocals.
