. . Interview: Wild Belle – “It’s always a search for the magic button”Growing up at the house of the Bergman family must have been an excited experience. Elliot and Natalie – who sould later become WILD BELLE – and there other two siblings were early introduced to good old-fashioned music of artists like BOB DYLAN or JONI MITCHELL. Especially the second one made Natelie pick up a guitar in her early days. Being influenced by music from their childhood on there might have been no alternate way for the two Bergmans. And after playing together for several years under the alias of WILD BELLE it looks like their debut album Isles arrived just at the right time to create a well deserved buzz. Being a wild mixture of indie, folk, soul and tropical beats this longplayer might definitely take these two musicians around the world. And it already does which makes NOTHING BUT HOPE AND PASSION even prouder to caught up with Elliot and talked about the record and the special relationship with his sister.First of all, please introduce yourself and WILD BELLE to our readers.

^^Never heard of them till this past weekend ID, when I was watching a movie called That's What She Said she did a solo slow song that I couldn't find anywhere then discovered she was in a band. I really like her voice. Prince is a big fan of Quadron:http://www.amazon.com/Ava...amp;sr=1-1 . 1st. CD Clips of songs: http://www.amazon.com/Qua...ng_title_0
. . Interview with QuadronHot on the heels of his debut LP with Rhye, producer-musician Robin Hannibal is back releasing music with Quadron, his project with Danish singer Coco Maja Hastrup Karshøj. We had a quick chat with Robin about new LP Avalanche, the Danish music scene and why Adele might end up on his next record…“The ultimate goal is world domination.”Hi Robin, when did you both first start making music, and who were the key artists that inspired you to take up music professionally?Coco has always been singing, and was destined to sing in front of a large audience. Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey and Sade were her big influences.I started in my mid-teens – collecting records, working at studios, studying music theory and arrangement – and have since focused on production and songwriting. Michael Jackson was a huge inspiration for both of us.And how did Quadron form?We met through a mutual friend in Denmark, and slowly started working together via a different project, which was a collective named Boom Clap Bachelors. Is there a sense of competition in the Danish music scene, or is everyone supportive of each other?Danish musicians are very creative and talented, and it serves as good inspiration for us. There is competition, but it is healthy competition that makes everyone better and more ambitious.Any Danish acts we should have on our radar? Our friends When Saints Go Machine and MØ.So, congratulations on the new album! For the benefit of people yet to hear it, how would you describe your sound? We call it soul music. Even though we believe it’s more of a feeling than a genre. How do you feel you have progressed artistically since your debut?I think we have developed our sound, and added more music and singing. It’s a bit more urgent and direct. We upped the stakes on all levels.Do you have a favorite track on the new LP?‘Avalanche’, which is the title track. I just love the emotion we were able to create through the instrumentation and the melodies. How does the creative process work for you?It works well! We are very self-contained, and sit together to figure out music, melodies and lyrics. But we do have certain assignments that are ultimately our job.How difficult is it not to be influenced by the sounds of Boom Clap Bachelors and Rhye?Well, the sound is mainly made by me, so it’s not that difficult. It’s all about defining what it is you set out to do, and we wanted to make an album that was inspired by the late 70s and early 80s but made with modern production influences. How did the collaboration with Kendrick Lamar happen? He invited us to work on his album, and through that process we asked if he was up to featuring on our albums as well. Both Prince and Adele have expressed their admiration. Has there been any mention of collaborations with them?We are very big admirers of both of them too; I own all of Prince’s records, and also Adele’s two albums. There hasn’t been any talk of collaborations, but we would certainly love to.What’s the plan for the rest of the year?Spreading the word about the album through media and touring. What’s the ultimate goal for Quadron?World domination. Finally, can you recommend three albums that you have enjoyed recently? The Stepkids by The Stepkids, Lonerism by Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s II.[Edited 12/23/13 8:50am] Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It! | |
