He didn't do any solo leads, but guitarist Bob Weston did a co-vocal with Christine McVie on Did You Ever Love Me? from 1973.

Maybe Elmer Gantry was undeserving of a mention.

Supposedly, Why Did You Do It? is about Mick Fleetwood, who they said agreed to tour with them, but Mick said he never heard of them.

The version I heard was that Mick was in no fit state to tour after he discovered his wife having an affair with one his bandmates.

Their manager sent a fake Fleetwood Mac out on the road in their place instead.

Mick finally couldn't take it anymore and decided to fire Bob Weston, but Mick had the roadies to tell him. Afterward, their manager Clifford Davis was told, and he was not amused about it. Fleetwood Mac had other members to leave for various reasons (like joining a sect, drugs, etc.), so this was another setback from the manager's view. The band decided to take a break and not continue the tour, which had been already booked, and cancelling could result in lawsuits from promoters. Davis claimed he owned the name Fleetwood Mac, and was free to put a group together to do the gigs. Bob Welch (not Weston), another member of the real Mac, saw a poster advertising a FM concert with a picture of Christine McVie on it and told Mick & Christine about it.

The manager Davis said that Mick was aware of the new group and agreed to drum for them when he felt better, but hired a temporary drummer until Mick could join up. Mick said that he did not make any such agreement to join the "Fake Mac" and did not know who the members were. The tour did not go that well when fans went to the shows and saw that it was not the real members, and wanted their money back, and the tour was soon cancelled when word got around about it. This hurt the real Fleetwood Mac in the short term when they decided to perform again and also with Warner Brothers. There were some lawsuits between the group and the manager in the UK. Davis controlled the band's money. Bob Welch was in the US and said that the others should come there to perform as court could take years, and they couldn't really do anything in England. In a way, the Fake Mac might be indirectly responsible for the eventual joining of Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham. The Stretch members felt Mick let them down by 'changing his mind' about joining them. Seems the whole history of FM is like a soap opera.

I did not know this.

But I suppose it was all for the best (in the bitter end) since it led to Nicks/Buckingham joining the band...and the rest is History.

That was more soap opera. In the late 1970's, while still married to Jenny, Mick had an affair with Stevie Nicks and Stevie's friend Sara (who the song was about) at the same time, while Stevie was dating Don Henley from The Eagles after she broke up with Lindsey Buckingham.

There's an article about Peter Green in the August 2013 issue of Guitar & Bass. I haven't read it though.
