Currently grooving to Ani Difranco's new album "EVOLVE."

music

Hey all!

Ani's new disc came out yesterday and man it's good...fave tracks so far are:

Icarus
Evolve
and the brilliant "Serpentine," a spoken word type of song kinda of like "Self Evident," from last year's live disc...

By the way, why is Ani able to release albums independtly with great packaging and art work and release it on a timely manner. Her website posted the release date of March 11 in late January and when I walked into Amoeba yesterday afternoon they had tons of copies...what gives? I wonder what her method of distribution is? The NPGMC needs to give Righteous Babe Records a call...

The thing with Ani is, Her albums arent "wallpaper" its something new and inventive on each album, and thats whats so great about Evolve. It still has the feel of rec/rev, but perhaps the songs are a bit more polished. It took me a few listens, but I feel comfortable with this album, its funky, emotional, and creative. Also note, the package that this disk comes in is beautiful, and top class style, and if u hit best buy, u can get this for only $9.99

Great Deal!smile

Many might agree, that it has a very raw feel to Evolve, But very very very, in tact regarding the timing and the "tightness" of the band.. she really has a good band on this album.

These songs arent considered very catchy, but they are a bit more sophisticated, and by no means be considered pop. I like this cool style, it has a raw jazzy feel to it, and if you a nice system, u can really dig the treble on this album, Everything is crisp and clear, it almost sounds as if they are playin right in front of you...

I dig it:)

Such rudeness. mad I'm Supernova, and I'm scurred, you talkin about TREBLE and all. whofarted

But seriously, I'm not apprehensive about the album, because I'm used to DiFranco's adventerousness and I know her music.

I really dug her later early stuff - up to "Living In Clip" which is just AWESOME. Plastic Castles started to lose me (full band with horns - that just wasn't what I expected, I guess).

I saw a special with her on late night about 2 months ago - playing new stuff and it sounded good. I gotta check out the new stuff.

Now that I've listened to it a few times I have no idea what you're talking about. The bass is equally as prominent as usual on her recordings. And the details are everywhere if you have the ears to find them.

Fuck the bass on stuff like this? Such sacrilege, such blasphemy, such Sir Noseishness. You can't swim. You never could swim. And you never will swim! disbelief
